If you are old school, like me, and loved playing Might and Magic, you will love this game as well. Yes there are quite a few bugs, but it is EA, as soon as I watched the video, I immediately bought it, knew it was my cup of tea..so to speak. Most of the bugs are fairly minor(more annoying than anything). The one that stops me is when I get to the temple, all my icons in the HUD disappear, as soon as I enter and cannot move other than spin around. But reading the discussions, the developer is very active, and addresses the issues. So with that in mind, try the demo first( I did not, cause it is my type of game). The map to this game is huge, when it gets done there will be many hours that will go into playing this Journey. I know I cannot wait, so I am off to start a new party. :)
It's not old school, it's just pure garbage! Refund requested.
Weiter so !
I you enjoyed the Might and Magic series then you probably will enjoy this one. Of course, as an early access game, there are many aspects that will need to be adjusted, fixed and implemented. With more then 4 hours in and still on the starting island but with lots of grinding, I finally got in the temple, killed the first monster but the second one quickly clobbered my level 7 team punch after punch! This is where the eventual balancing will help but it doesn't take away the fun of playing this type of game. Loot is interesting, and levelling up offers choices. Graphics are simple so don't expect Horizon zero dawn equivalent. But fro the price, I have no complaint! Thumbs Up!
this game is awsome
Love the game.Reminds me of a lot of the old school CRPG's.Such as Wizardry and might and magic. Its alil buggy and long way from being finished. But I have 13 hours in the game so far.And I am loving it.
This reminds me very much of the Might & Magic series in the 6,7 & 8 versions. It took a little to get into the mechanics but, once I did, it was full steam ahead. I got the demo first but I upgraded before I even got off the first island. The skill system is a tad complex as its not particularly intuitive but I'm getting it Well worth the $25 bucks I paid for it
FIRST OFF, I want to Mention that this review was Request - Follow my Curator ChilliousReviews And that this review is over the Course of Early Access ALPHA BUILDS 0.0.1a to 0.0.8b that was released the morning I decided to finally finish my review of this. Generally I like to get at least 1 hour put in before reviewing but there just wasn't a lot for me to review. This is a long review, but I will try to cover everything I can. To Start, I will list Good Things and Bad Things in my opinion about each of the following categories ALSO DEV, Please do not leave a comment on my review, most devs who ask me to review seem to, like they need to defend themselves, you do not need to. your game is alpha, I am sure you will make something really nice. -Menus: Not bad, easy to navigate through. However, in Video Settings there should be a Sub Tab for Advanced, Advanced should not be it's own tab with the other main options. Background could also be better, it doesn't show of the game, just a table and an out of view shield in what seems to be a tavern, is it Legendary or tavern based, just a thought for the dev. -General Genres Listed on steam: I would not say this is a Exploration game, there was not much to find, and no hints to anything, it is turn based, party based, rpg, however I felt like a floating camera. Game should be 3rd person, with the ability to swap between party members as you adventure, or at least be 3rd person with a character builder. It feels like a First Person RPG Maker game where you are forever in the over world as a floating camera. Would be better 3rd person. Combat is not terrible, but not great, I mean if this is your type of thing you will love it, and I like turn based, but there seems to be a lot of RNG that is not very balanced., or doesn't feel balanced. -Story: none, it is an alpha, which makes this game not worth playing when I could just mindlessly kill things in plenty of other games that are AAA or Indie Studios that have various levels of backing. Another thought for the dev is before 0.0.10 version, make some sorta story, even if it is not finished or fully fleshed out, but something to give the player some direction, and make quests more visible. The game is basically a island wandering sim with some turn based combat -Sounds and Music: Music.. oh god do not get me started, it repeats the SAME SONG whenever you wander the map, it is a nice song the first 5 times, but as a musician, it got bored fast, that I just muted my TV and Played my own music. SFX are also lack luster, same hit sounds, same "damage" sound, when a party member is damaged. -Controls: Awful, I hate them so much that I felt I needed a tranquilizer to calm down OK, they ARE TERRIBLE. First off, the Mouse ONLY TURNS THE PLAYER when you hold Right Click, BAD DESIGN CHOICE. When you try to strafe the controls are reversed, why are they reversed? W moves forward, S moves back... but D takes you Left, and A takes you Right... why? no other game I have played have had this level of BAD controls. However, some people will get used to it. -HUD: not the best, everything is located at the top (which is why you can't use the mouse to turn the camera, cause you have to use the click to select Upper HUD options). This is bad, control and HUD Wise. ESC opens a Pause Menu, as it should. TAB opens Inventory? I disliked this immensely. I feel TAB should open a Menu that has all the Upper hud icons/options and Inventory should be in there, or in a Hot key, like I or something. Minimap, just a white circle right now, nothing special, above it is a compass, which would be helpful If there was any direction or objective in the game at this point, but good that it is set up now. -Graphics: EEEEEEEEH... yea, I played this on Beautiful (MAX) settings, and I cannot say it was the best looking. I also cannot say I have seen much worse. it felt like a mix between PS1 and early gamecube. Lots of the same couple plants, a few rocks, grass blends into sand on the beaches. the Lands are not too great to look at. The Skybox is pretty boring, same with the edge of the world, it is just vast water, would look nicer with some islands or something out there. Night Skybox is really nice though, wish I could just play at night. Buildings: not bad, I like the fantasy vibe, but the towns could look a lot better, paths, walkways, more props/decor, signs... I have no clue where I was 90% of the time. not much of a graphical thing, but the graphics could look a bit better. Models: Kinda boring, same trope of slight recoloring enemies here and there, but there was a good variety in what I fought. The villages seem to be full of the same goblin handed woman, in the same dress, with the same hair and face... who also floats above the ground. so yea,. there is that. Weather/D&N: Nice Day and Night Cycle, could use an in-game clock, if there is one, I never saw it. Weather is also nice, I liked the Fog, would love some rain at some point. Not much else to cover, but here are some other things I feel should be mentioned: *Party Members are kinda boring, they do not feel special or unique except that Razel always seems to die, Alendria runs out of attack and needs invigorating potions too often and Jager seems to always miss (95% of the time) when he attacks, so they have that which makes them Unique... RNG is pretty bad here for them. *No Tips, No Hints and No Tutorial on anything, game just drops you in with or without pants and says good luck as it drives away leaving you behind. *There is no Sprint, so you will forever be walking around like an early 2000's game. Like halo combat evolved, which I would rather play for many reasons. *Quests are not easy to find, if there are any. And there is no direction or reason to exist, personally I wouldve had that before releasing an Alpha, as it makes it feel like less than, even less than a tech demo. *Game has 10 save files, 3 would've been more than enough at this point. *enemies RNG feels super unbalanced, they either die in 1 hit or tank everything. In closing, I want to say this: I recommend this cause I think we should all give a chance to the dev, this is an Alpha anyway, it will turn out to be better, I have faith in the dev! However, it needs a lot of work in the state it is in now. the game is not terrible, if you want to wander and have some turnbased combat, you will like this. Hopefully the dev doesnt feel the need to comment and defend himself. this was all critiques, but you could easily take them and make an even better game. I did not want to completely crap allover this creation, especially since it is in Alpha, but there are things even I wouldve done before putting this out. I also think it is overpriced, 12$ for this? Start with 5$ or less, this is not worth 12. you can get halo 3 and ODST together for 15$. there are many games you can get that are more worth it for less than the cost of this. When this get's closer to a Beta or a Pre-release, I will look at it again. Until then, keep it up, keep doing what you love, even if one person doesnt fully like it, or hates it, there will be people who love it even more than you do! I believe you, the dev, will make a killer game, just needs polish.
It's really terrible with chaotic UI, unintuitive to play. I thought it was going to remind M&M series, meanwhile it's some abomination that is completely unplayable. No idea why other reviews are positive.
