Last Time I Saw You is a beautifully crafted hidden gem. The game presents a story of love, loss, and adventure in a stunningly handcrafted Japanese town subject to a curse. But even under the curse, the town and the adjoining forest are lively and feel rather cozy. There is always something to do, whether it is collecting materials in the forest to open a path to the mountain, purchasing various street foods throughout town, learning about first love, or paying respects to family who have passed on. There are a wide variety of characters to interact with, from close friends, to quarreling shopkeepers, to various yokai, all of whom have distinct personalities and demonstrate the care taken to accurately depict local dynamics and Japanese folklore. Family dynamics are also important to note, which are revealed day by day to illustrate a mother, father, and son caught up in their own tasks but deep down, want to spend quality time together. Then there is the gorgeous illustration of weather throughout the game. Such detail into weather is fitting because the curse directly involves weather and thus puts the curse into perspective. Weather events range from most peaceful of cloudy days and drizzles to the most dramatic of typhoons, all of which can be observed in awe at different times of the day and together make the story much more meaningful. Don't sit this one out; Last Time I Saw You is a beautiful game.

Wish I had more time exploring the town and helping out villagers, but this was a good story game. I like it
