Ladder Climbing is an endearing and quirky game that takes players on an adventure with little monster triplets as they navigate a world filled with obstacles and surprises. In this engaging title, you'll guide the adorable monsters at the same time, up and down ladders, helping them find the right portals to make their way home. What sets Ladder Climbing apart is the unique personalities of the little monsters, who, despite being triplets, have minds of their own. This creates an enjoyable challenge as you coordinate their movements to overcome obstacles and progress through the levels. The gameplay mechanics are simple yet addictive, making it accessible to players of all ages and skill levels. The vibrant visuals and charming characters draw you into the game's world, with lively animations and colorful environments that will keep you engaged throughout your journey. Watch out for the cute but prickly cacti, which add a fun element of danger as you explore each level. To keep you energy levels up, be sure to replenish their health – a friendly reminder of self-care that gives the game a personal touch. And remember, finding the right door is crucial to your success in Ladder Climbing! The new music and sound update has improved the quality of the game. But be very careful, since there is no way to undo your last move. Overall, Ladder Climbing offers a delightful and whimsical gaming experience that combines charming visuals, quirky characters, and enjoyable challenges. After all, I have a weak spot for cuteness. I'm glad I did!! First impression: Once I launched the game, I was a bit confused since the game opened in windowed mode and noticed that the main screen did not have a settings menu. It just had Start, Select and Exit. Still trying to find settings, I clicked on Select. This took me to the Select a level screen, which is fine, it makes sense. The issue was that there was no back button. No return, exit to main menu, nothing obvious. I also tried pressing some keys like esc, backspace, space, enter, C,X, RMB but nothing took me out. Only way to go back was to force close and re-open the game. This could also just be a bug. I proceeded to start the game. Alas, there I found the Settings icon, along with another exit icon, reset and difficulty. I was able to change the setting for music, sound, resolution and I was able to change it from windowed to full screen. Although, to do so I had to check the box for Windowed (bug?). If you want to change the language, this is where you'll find that. In the game screen (or level screen), you will find on your left the keys to use to move around. Then the game's level in the middle. The difficulty can be changed on the right side, from Simple (preset) or Normal. I decided to use the preset one and then compare it to Normal later. The game is cute and fun. It's difficulty in Simple is "simple" enough to make it enjoyable and Normal mode provides an extra bit of challenge by moving your characters further away or adding more obstacles. You can switch difficulties mid game but be aware that if you are mid-level, it will reset the progress for that level once changed. A mechanic I liked was that sometimes you have to get an "ouchie" in order to get to the goal. Taking a hit or losing a heart is normally not a strategy, so I found this a little clever, It has a very minimalist art style but still fits the "cute" theme. When you start and end a game, you'll hear a child's voice say, "Let's play!" and "Excellent!". Also cute, but after a few levels it can be too much. All in all, it's a super cute and cozy sokoban style puzzle game. It has 2 difficulties in case you want to up the challenge and make it less cozy. Also, I must note that, it is currently at an excellent price. For the Developer: Thank you so much for allowing me to play and review your game. It is a super cute hidden gem. There are some pointers I would like to share as feedback since it could improve the quality or ease of access to the game. As I mentioned before, Settings being inside the game/level was a bit strange. Having it in the main menu is easier to access. Also, that there was no way for me to go back to the main menu after going to the Select screen. The child's voice at the start and end of a level is adorable but it can get to be too much after playing for 30+ minutes. Maybe a variation of sounds or mute could help the repetitive feeling. At the end of a level, if you are successful, the pop up to continue has a banner with stars. I think I was expecting them to show like a good, great, excellent type of level 1-2-3 stars, based on the levels of steps it took me. Could be another bug but they just showed normal on my end. These are just some of my observations and in no way would I like to change your vision. You made something really cute and fun. I hope you make more games in the future. I will be on the lookout! Good luck in all of your future projects!
Ist an und für sich ein nettes Game für Kinder aber für mich eindeutig zu schwer mfg Der Bewegungslegasteniker
7/10 Puzzle where you move 2+ monsters in a maze simultaneously TLDR: An interesting indie puzzle with 90 levels. 2 levels of difficulty for each puzzle. The low number of downloads I could only explain by the kids setting (most kids play on mobile I guess) Good: - interesting puzzles - 2 difficulty levels in case you feel that the "normal" one is somewhat too difficult for you - cute overall feel, from the gfx and the music So-so: - monsters aren't animated, so the picture is completely static. I'd argue that it's not that much of a problem, especially for an indie puzzle game. Yet just look at how the market disagrees with me: 2 reviews in 3 months... And there is some life lacking in the game because of absense of movement on the screen Bad: - actually, nothing. Unless you just don't like puzzles and want them to be a breeze so that you could caress your ego :)

[th]I'm a Steam curator, you can follow me[/th]

3/10. Recommended ONLY to puzzle fans with broken speakers or a mute button that's stuck on (really!!). This is a fun and somewhat novel puzzle game with abysmal graphics (but ok, 1 free pass on that) AND actually painful audio design, with painfully high pitched or extremely annoying "voices" which I CANNOT overlook. With so many puzzle games that are both a pleasure to play, listen to, and look at, a game which only does one of those things tolerably well isn't really worth my time. A shame because the gameplay is definitely decent; you move 3 characters simultaneously, who all move at the same time and direction unless they are blocked. For the love of GOD or John Romero, FIX the audio so it's not painful. And consider using any of the 100+ free tile sets for game developers, almost any would be an improvement over this one. I mean, ugly isn't a thing anybody wants. Retro graphics may be ugly if you didn't grow up with the systems being referenced, but at least there's a second layer of referencing fond memories. This is just ugly with no counterbalancing positive. But as I said the killer is the hideous audio.
