Warning: AI Slop This game is partially or completely made with talentless, soulless AI generated content.
"L/Right Reflection" doesn't seem to have been made with the godawful blight on gaming that is the RPG Maker asset/construction kit... but it's almost completely indistingishable from an asset flip churned out with it. Instead this is hammered out with a similar Unity based JRPG construction kit. The quality is just as bad, if not worse, than an RPG Maker asset flip. As a construction kit kitbash/asset flip, this doesn't contain much in the way of original game assets, it's just a bunch of pixelcrap assets from the construction kit combined with that all too common high school anime club dropout fan-fiction cringe writing. The topic here, unsurprisingly, is the developers imaginary girlfriend, a little anime girl called Lumis. Why are RPG Maker asset flippers so obsessed with little girls? It's creepy. These JRPG construction kits are pretty much all the same as far as gamers are concerned... low quality engine, pixelcrap "art" instead of anything remotely contemporary or professional, completely amateurish design and implementation... "L/Right Reflection", like all the other JRPG construction kit asset flips, has no real value as a game for gamers at all. The argument can be made that these construction kit toys are intended to let would-be developers learn something about real game design without having any skill, talent, or training, or to pass little demos around with friends. But what's happened here is someone got their hands on it and thought it was an "Ez-Mode" button to turn themselves into real game developers without having to do any of the real work or have any of the skill and talent that real developers need. The result is this disaster. This features really godawful pixelcrap "art" instead of real graphics. It's hard to say if this was because the developer didn't have the skill to do the job of creating 3D visuals, or couldn't afford to hire someone who does, but it also doesn't matter. What matters is that this looks much worse than most other games because of that decision, and that's a major deterrent to gamers. Games like Terraria and Stardew Valley succeeded despite the bad graphics, not because of them. As mentioned, this features really godawful, "wrong" looking AI slop instead of genuinely and sincerely created game assets. It's hard to say if this was because the developer didn't have the skill to do the job of creating real game assets or couldn't afford to hire someone who does, but it also doesn't matter. What matters is that this looks bad because of that decision. AI slop sticks out like a sore thumb... and it comes across as insulting. There's also the old adage that those who lack the budget and talent to make their own game assets usually lack the budget and talent to do the rest of the job of game development properly, too, and that's glaringly obvious here. Now on to pricing and value for gamers. This is "free" enough (not every "free" game in the "free" section is truly free, there's usually some hidden price tag), at least you won't be expected to spend any more money after you download this, but just because something is free doesn't mean it's good, and the cost of a game is more than just financial, your time is valuable too. In terms of public reception, this failed. There's over 130 million unique gamers visiting Steam every month. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 6 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Since free games don't contribute to your game collector badge and other profile stuff, is this a worthwhile addition to your Steam library? This is a "nope". While it won't necessarily cost you money, the time and hard drive space it requires could be better invested in one of the many higher-quality alternatives on Steam. The use of AI slop is a direct insult to gamers and real, ethical content creators and artists everywhere.
Developer Response!
The developer has weighed in to inform everyone they didn't read the Developer Usage Rules for Steam "partners", or they deliberately ignored the part where Valve says:
Though it may be tempting, not every review needs to be responded to. A developer response will frequently draw more attention than the original statement, potentially turning a small issue into a much larger community discussion. It's also not a good idea to use this feature to refute customer opinions. Your direct attention can be seen as validation or a defensive attempt to silence your customers.
The developer levels a series of lies and dishonest but self-incriminating admissions. First, this review does not breach any Valve guidelines, unlike the developers direct breach of guidelines (observe the guideline I quoted which the developer breaches). The developer ADMITS this is an asset flip, as I indicated, by stealing the work of other, real creators and putting his own name on it. Disgusting, unethical plagiarism which is an insult to gamers and real developers everywhere. The developer ADMITS this is made with disgusting, insulting AI slop. Nothing in the developers pointless breach of Valve guidelines changes any of the objective facts of my review. My review stands unaltered. I cannot recommend this AI slop asset flip to anyone.

first impression is that it looks pretty good. english translation and graphic presentation are very well done...nice character design, story is immediately engaging. very surprised that it's free..possibly one of the best free games on Steam right now
A bit harder on low end PCs, but overall nice game
