About
After centuries of increasing magic use, the world’s mana well is running dry. If entirely depleted, magic will be gone forever.
This does not go unnoticed by Riley and her friends Mitra and Yui. They set out from their hometown, trying to convince people and monsters to use mana more consciously. Along the way, they meet and team up with other like-minded people. Who could resist Tau the cook’s warm hugs, Quinn’s epic role-playing sessions, or Finley’s thought-provoking games? Perhaps they will even befriend the world famous rockstar Luca! Each of the activists contribute to the cause with their unique sets of debate skills, which they hone along the way.
KreatureKind offers unique gameplay, which is approachable to beginners while still giving seasoned players a proper challenge. If you're new to this kind of game, you'll figure it out. Played every card battler on the market? These monsters will still give you a run for your money!
Supercharge the seven playable characters by unlocking and upgrading cards! The mysterious former activist’s shop may just have the card you need to succeed. For a permanent boost to your team member’s debate skills, plushies give you the edge that will tip the scales in your favour.

I don`t think the story itself might be for everyone, but the card battles aren`t too hard to understand and it`s not extremely difficult to move forward. If you do get stuck, remember to spend your money to upgrade your cards and you should be fine. The art is nice and if the music stops you can just press play for it again. If you like card games and aren`t looking for something too intense, you probably will enjoy the game.
The music is the best bit. but the character design is super cute and i really like how it's just having sensible discussions not like trying to unalive anyone, cute, whole, just overall great vibes
A very fun and addictive game, that even me as more of a board game player than a computer game player could enjoy a lot! The story line is great, and makes you think about a lot of current issues that you can relate their mana issue to. If there is one thing I could improve in the game, then it would be that it didn't play the scene's background music at the same time as the "jukebox" music (which has some great tracks btw). As a workaround you can turn off all sound effects to remove the scene music.
This game was fun and a decent length at ~8hrs, I really liked the art and I thought the battle system was pretty neat, I haven't seen that HP system before, but I could be misremembering. It has Fresno Nightcrawlers! Game was made by a Solo Dev (with commissions) and granted me a review copy for my stream. Thank you so much! They were very cool to talk a bit with and totally deserve the support. This review is mostly based off my time with the early build, though it seems like much of the game is the same at the moment. (bit late on the review. my bad. >..< ) TLDR: This is a cozy game. The plot is straight forward without much drama, serving mostly as comentary on some modern problems. The battle system is complex enough to facilitate some strategy, but the rate of new cards and experimentation was low enough that I ended up simply upgrading my basic damage and heal cards and brute forcing my way through the fights. My biggest complaints would be the character 'barks' in battles (laughing, growling, giggling, ect) were pretty repetative, and personally, I would have liked to have more in depth look to the characters and world. I enjoyed my time with this game though, and is great for those times when you just want to chill. My thoughts are all over the place so I may repeat myself. The 'battles' are non-violent, just implied verbal discourse. And while it doens't beat you over the head with it's message it does give a susinct bonk. There seems to be a lot of background worldbuilding just out of focus and mentioned through brief dialogue options, but it didn't flesh those elements out as much as I would have liked--it seems as if it was made just enough to hold the narrative together, but I would have liked to delve into the characters a bit more. There's no real drama or conflict enough to cause any stress or existential dread, which it could have, but instead people change their minds after you debate/battle them. Everyone's decently friendly and agreeable. This game has enough depth to the card battle system to be decent, but I found I wasn't getting as much cash to experiment and aquire new cards as I would have liked. I ended up upgrading my basic damage and heal cards the most and that proved to be rather effective, though I still had to throw a few special cards in and be a bit picky at times on heals/damage. The enemy variety is seemingly wide with a lot of different fun monsters. Before starting an 'expedition' or 'dungeon run' (don't remember the name used in this) you can back out and go in again to seemingly shuffle the enemy types you'll encounter. However, if they are actually different types of enemies with specific decks/strategies I wasn't really able to tell the difference, only knowing the HP blocks the monsters had and which ones were more vulnerable to my simple brute force strat. There's several companions to pick up, with their own decks, but I didn't ever really pick up on what their general methods were. And again, I wasn't able to learn and enjoy them as companions since the game didn't really have a way to do that. I would have liked a hub with all the companions that I could casually talk with, learn about them as characters ect. The audio is the weakest area for me. During battle characters will laugh, giggle, chirp, whatever kinda sounds they make quite often and it can get very tiresome to hear--especially the yeti's laugh. The music selection is fine and it has its own player that can be paused or skipped, but otherwise feels independant to the game and implemented just so there was some kind of music in the background. But there's no map music or battle themes, ect. During battle the sfx for the cards are boring. There's no fancy lights, sparkles, bursts, jingles, or audio queues, and I think giving the fights a bit of a spectacle would have been good. If I would change anything, it would be, giving new cards out freely more often and only using the money to upgrade owned cards. Adding more visual and audio punch to the battles, and reduce the amount of laughter the characters make or give them more variety--the yeti is the worst offender here. Let the player chat with companions and other characters more and let us learn about this world the game is in--we're saving it after all, I want to be more invested. My usual team was Riley, Yui, and Luca. Yui was my favorite character, she was my healer, but she could sometimes deal a ton of damage. KreatureKind is one of those games that I would like to see a sequel to since it feels really close to being amazing. A game where the first is good, but the sequel is all that and then more. I think it has that potential, and I want to see more from this studio.
