About

Korea. IL-2 Series takes you to a pivotal moment in aviation history—a time when jet engines changed the skies forever. During the Korean War, the piston-engine aircraft of a bygone era clashed with the first jet fighters.
For the first time in the series, gamepads are supported in addition to joysticks and HOTAS control systems.
With a massive combat map, authentically recreated aircraft, and a well-crafted balance between simulation and accessibility, every dogfight is brought to life.
Become an ace, fight in legendary machines, or aim even higher and become a regiment’s commander. Lead squadrons, plot routes across the combat map, and issue orders to turn the tide of history. In the skies of Korea, you can be anyone: from a rank-and-file pilot to a strategist shaping the outcome of the campaign.
For the first time in the IL-2 series, full controller support has been implemented.

The aircraft of the Korean War have been recreated based on actual blueprints, historical photographs, flight manuals, and other archival materials. There are eight* aircraft at your disposal.
*Please note La‑11 and F‑84E Thunderjet are available in the Premium and Deluxe editions, or as a separate DLC.

Every instrument in the cockpit is fully functional and reflects the state of the aircraft’s systems in real time. You will be aiming and firing just as pilots did 75 years ago.

The game takes place on the largest map in the series' history, covering an area of over 200,000 square kilometers. The Korean Peninsula has been recreated based on historical maps and documents from the 1950s. All significant historical landscape changes have been accounted for, including reclaimed coastal areas and shoreline changes.
The map features dozens of airbases with historically accurate layouts, hundreds of settlements, and strategic objectives such as ports, dams, and transport hubs.

The Home by Christmas campaign tells the story of Captain Jack Russell, who in 1950 secures a transfer to a combat unit fighting in the Korean War to fulfill his dream of becoming a jet ace.
You will fly 15 historically accurate combat missions, recreated from the combat logs of the 8th Fighter-Bomber Wing and the memoirs of its pilots.
The campaign reflects unique challenges of the war's early months: jet aircraft could not operate from small forward airstrips, so some pilots had to temporarily return to piston-engined machines. Over the course of the campaign, you will fly both the F-51 Mustang and the F-80 Shooting Star jet.

In Career mode, you will act as an air regiment commander, managing personnel and overseeing aviation logistics.
It is up to you to decide whether to take to the skies or focus on strategic tasks. As a regiment commander, you will maintain combat readiness, plan operations, and reinforce your units.

Korea features a highly detailed damage model for both aviation and ground objects. Aircraft, including strategic bombers, as well as ground vehicles, trains, and ships, receive damage corresponding to the nature of the hits sustained.
Every object reacts realistically to collisions, crashes, and combat damage, taking into account mass, speed, and the point of impact, directly affecting the behavior of the vehicle and the outcome of the battle.

In this new mode, you can examine each aircraft, ground vehicle, and naval vessel in detail. Explore the models, learn about their development and combat history, inspect aircraft cockpits, and compare technical specs, including detailed performance charts.
Your own personal museum, open anytime—a true treasure for anyone passionate about aviation and military history.

For the first time in the series, you can leave the cockpit and walk around the airfield where your regiment is based.
Animations of the people—pilots, soldiers, and civilians—were created using motion capture (MOCAP) technology, ensuring natural and lifelike movement.
Full VR support via OpenXR and OpenVR.
Accessibility: The game features detailed systems management, but there’s no need to memorize engine start-up sequences—you can take off and engage immediately.
Hardware support: From controllers to desktop joysticks and professional HOTAS systems.

Really enjoying this game I've always loved games with aircraft and have wanted to get into a more realistic flight sim for a while, but I never really wanted to invest the time needed to learn something like DCS or other hardcore flight simulators. I decided to give IL-2 Korea a try, especially because I really like the Korean War era and the aircraft from that period. I'm really glad I did. It only took me about 30 minutes to get comfortable with the controls, and after that I was hooked. One thing I will say is that this is definitely more difficult and realistic than an arcade-style flight game, so don't expect to just jump in and fly around like an arcade game. That said, I think it does a great job of making the learning curve manageable. What I really like is how flexible the game is. You can play with some assists and keep things more approachable, or you can turn up the realism and make it feel much more like a traditional simulator. It gives you room to learn and gradually increase the difficulty without immediately throwing you into the deep end like DCS can. I've been having a blast with it ever since. If you're someone who loves aircraft but has always been hesitant to get into something like DCS because of the time commitment, I'd definitely recommend giving IL-2 Korea a try.

VR looks amazing when not much is happening big fight starts and suddenly its stutters blur and me changing settings again not giving up on it but VR really needs more work before it feels ready
This game definitely has its ups and downs: Ups: the graphics are amazing, the aircraft are modeled beautifully, exterior and interior, all the aircraft feel great to fly and each one feels different. The damage model is extremely good, and visual damage looks great. Great crash physics as usual. Being able to get in and out of your plane and walk around is a very fun little feature. The airbases look incredible with all the little details on them. Downs: The AI pilots are very dumb and almost always do the "lazy left turn" which is disappointing for a lot of people because they like spending time career modes. The AI TTS radio operators sound like they are drunk which is weird. The 80 dollar is price point is honestly a bit steep for a lot of people and definitely turned people away from getting the game. I personally think that the La-11 and F-84 shouldn't have been collectors planes and should be in the base game in order to justify the 80 dollar base game price tag. I still very much like this game, but it still has issues that can be fixed, which in the end will make it even better.
10/10 gameplay, if i could get out of the menu screen without crashing.
IL-2 Flight model is still not the greatest, war thunder sim still feels more realistic, game is overpriced with DLC on launch, carrer mode seems nice but lacks proper squad control even as the leader of the squadron, one of the backstories is jewish avenger weirdly
VR, mid-sim user. Listen people, there has been a lot of love and detail that has gone into this rare accessible sim, it's far from perfect but the potential is massive. I love that we have this, and it will only get a thousand times better! Stayed away at first, then dove in, so far it's been a great VR combat sim experience. Granted still need many more hours for proper evaluation... Pros: -Flying is fantastic! -Accessible (simplistic) or realistic, you chose. -Visuals are great, beautiful jets, planes, environments! -Great ground missions, ground vehicles react dynamically -Variety of missions -Campaigns -Mission Editor, simple version and full complex version!! -Lots of Co-op possibilities -Multiplayer -Great jet and plane combos with more on the way -Effects and damage model are great -Explosions are satisfying -Map is great, lots of details and good size -So many details for flight and history geeks -Great and unique era -UI and Menus -Detailed joystick and controller support -VR specific graphics options -Devs love VR -Devs aware of needed fixes, updating regularly -So much potential!!! -Company has a proven long-term development and support of their product and DLCs Cons: -Many bugs -Vr optimization needed, older systems will struggle or can't run -Ai need work and debugging -Ai voices needs work -Typical complex setup sim stuff to deal with, graphics, bindings... -Task Editor (simple mission editor), needs to have an integrated way to make co-op maps rather then the current workaround. -Full Editor needs a degree to use, but potential is massive. -There is a decent learning curve for newbies to the sim world, however, to be fair, it is controller friendly. -Price makes people hesitate, a lower price would of made more sales and overall more profits. Wish they would include: - Scenarios with planes to do Cargo missions, rescue missions, artillery callouts all with progression and license unlocks. I believe that would bring in many more people who just want to fly non-combat mission roles, who enjoy flying and the challenges those roles bring.
Flight sim with in-flight musics! That's kind of new these days! Reminds me the Jane's WWII fighters.
For anyone not happy about the price please just dont buy the game, leaving negative feedback over it is totally unfair, christ, its your CHOICE to buy or not! most flight simmers like myself have been aware of this games upcoming release and the price was shown on il2s website for months and are not worried about the price (i set some pennies aside a while back) Give them a chance, over time this game will grow and improve and more features and content will be added im sure and hopefully it will become as much of a phenomenon as il2gb (still one of my favourite games) So far im impressed with the gameplay, physics and flight modelling (i clipped an emplacement with one wing, ripped half my plane off which then proceeded to cartwheel and explode) it does take some tweaking to run well in vr, but if your like me your used to it and its half the fun :)
The game is amazing in almost everyway! Just the price and 2 aircraft that shouldn't be sold separately is the only downside to this game. It puts a grim reminder of the eco were in rn.
After hours of investigating, dealing with settings etc, and trying it out, i get a message that something is wrong and i have to go through the rigmarole of purchase all over again! well no thanks! I feel it has not improved over other sims so will wait to see if it improves.
