About

Korea. IL-2 Series takes you to a pivotal moment in aviation history—a time when jet engines changed the skies forever. During the Korean War, the piston-engine aircraft of a bygone era clashed with the first jet fighters.
For the first time in the series, gamepads are supported in addition to joysticks and HOTAS control systems.
With a massive combat map, authentically recreated aircraft, and a well-crafted balance between simulation and accessibility, every dogfight is brought to life.
Become an ace, fight in legendary machines, or aim even higher and become a regiment’s commander. Lead squadrons, plot routes across the combat map, and issue orders to turn the tide of history. In the skies of Korea, you can be anyone: from a rank-and-file pilot to a strategist shaping the outcome of the campaign.
For the first time in the IL-2 series, full controller support has been implemented.

The aircraft of the Korean War have been recreated based on actual blueprints, historical photographs, flight manuals, and other archival materials. There are eight* aircraft at your disposal.
*Please note La‑11 and F‑84E Thunderjet are available in the Premium and Deluxe editions, or as a separate DLC.

Every instrument in the cockpit is fully functional and reflects the state of the aircraft’s systems in real time. You will be aiming and firing just as pilots did 75 years ago.

The game takes place on the largest map in the series' history, covering an area of over 200,000 square kilometers. The Korean Peninsula has been recreated based on historical maps and documents from the 1950s. All significant historical landscape changes have been accounted for, including reclaimed coastal areas and shoreline changes.
The map features dozens of airbases with historically accurate layouts, hundreds of settlements, and strategic objectives such as ports, dams, and transport hubs.

The Home by Christmas campaign tells the story of Captain Jack Russell, who in 1950 secures a transfer to a combat unit fighting in the Korean War to fulfill his dream of becoming a jet ace.
You will fly 15 historically accurate combat missions, recreated from the combat logs of the 8th Fighter-Bomber Wing and the memoirs of its pilots.
The campaign reflects unique challenges of the war's early months: jet aircraft could not operate from small forward airstrips, so some pilots had to temporarily return to piston-engined machines. Over the course of the campaign, you will fly both the F-51 Mustang and the F-80 Shooting Star jet.

In Career mode, you will act as an air regiment commander, managing personnel and overseeing aviation logistics.
It is up to you to decide whether to take to the skies or focus on strategic tasks. As a regiment commander, you will maintain combat readiness, plan operations, and reinforce your units.

Korea features a highly detailed damage model for both aviation and ground objects. Aircraft, including strategic bombers, as well as ground vehicles, trains, and ships, receive damage corresponding to the nature of the hits sustained.
Every object reacts realistically to collisions, crashes, and combat damage, taking into account mass, speed, and the point of impact, directly affecting the behavior of the vehicle and the outcome of the battle.

In this new mode, you can examine each aircraft, ground vehicle, and naval vessel in detail. Explore the models, learn about their development and combat history, inspect aircraft cockpits, and compare technical specs, including detailed performance charts.
Your own personal museum, open anytime—a true treasure for anyone passionate about aviation and military history.

For the first time in the series, you can leave the cockpit and walk around the airfield where your regiment is based.
Animations of the people—pilots, soldiers, and civilians—were created using motion capture (MOCAP) technology, ensuring natural and lifelike movement.
Full VR support via OpenXR and OpenVR.
Accessibility: The game features detailed systems management, but there’s no need to memorize engine start-up sequences—you can take off and engage immediately.
Hardware support: From controllers to desktop joysticks and professional HOTAS systems.

A good flight sim, has some rough edges still but it is an improvement over the last entries for sure, the scenery, details and overall feeling of flight has been an evolution indeed. The singleplayer is good but the AI is still the crux of this franchise, hopefully the devs will focus on that and if not then I can say that when you get the hang of the game, the singleplayer will get stale fast so take of that what you will. About the pricing, I honestly do not think it is a steep ask. It's a flight sim, the market is niche, the production is expensive, when you take all that and other factors into consideration I can understand the pricing and I consider it fair. Anyway, if you like flying on a computer this is a definitive buy.
planes good map good new UI actually good??? full price plus extra planes beside it 😬 base game isnt empty at all its just the price making this harder to recommend than the flying

Game isn't compatible with Saitek Cyborg EVO Force stick that works with every other IL2 title
A strong new release among flight simulators — games in this genre are released rarely, but they hit the mark. If you're familiar with this developer’s other flight sims, Rise of Flight and IL-2: Battle of Stalingrad, then you can already imagine the level of quality and attention to detail in this title as well. There’s an interesting new career system and the ability to manage an entire squadron! And of course, multiplayer is here as usual, with community-run servers. As always, more aircraft are expected from the developers, especially since the early jet era is incredibly interesting. The graphics in Virtual Reality are excellent! The sense of presence is absolutely top-notch! A must-have for all aviation enthusiasts.
Only 3 odd hours in but an early review nonetheless while the subject is as hot as a gaggle of B29s blazing towards the ground. First off, specs are down below, flight sim gear i'm using- -VKB Gunfighter Joystick Modern Combat MKIV -VKB Stecs Throttle Miniplus MKII -TM Rudderpedals -Delanfusionpro Wireless Headtracker -Nextlevel Racing Simrig The Sim Graphically gorgeous with, as per usual the il2 lineage, many updates to be expected over the life of the sim. Planes are stunning as are the cockpits. Sky, Clouds, terrain are very nice. Caveat- have been getting some object pop in and some random blurry terrain textures. Flight models seem very good and each plane has its own distinct feel, very early cold war era. Cool af. Controls, typical flight sim, you will to spend some time tweaking your setup. If you want it spoon fed to you, well, flight sims din't do that. Spend some time getting your setup right just solo flying around, it's worth it. In a panic moment you want to know where everything is. Most important part of the first couple of hours is learning your buttons and axis and your cockpit layout. Gui is much more polished and should help entry level peeps and even us older vets getting things sorted. Actually a nice surprise how much better it is compared to il2 and other sims. Job well done. Ai, honestly don't know yet. Will edit this part but i don't expect much, il2 ai is il2 ai. I'm an MP player, single player/editor is just for sorting settings for me. Can understand the frustration of purely single player peeps. Mission/campaign makers have always overshadowed the in game stuff. Shouldn't be long before missions and campaigns roll out. Sound, much nicer than il2, deeper throatier sounds that don't seem to be as tinny as il2. Map/atmosphere very nice besides the thermonuclear bomb sunrises. Airfields aren't just a dead pavement or stretch of grass anymore. Overall it's going to be hard to jump back into il2 even after only 3 and bit hours. Still some mucking to do with settings to get fully comfortable but, i have spentvfar less time getting up to speed in this than any other dim in the last 25 years. Everything just worked plug and play wise. Headtracking smoother than an 8 ball across velvet. 85-120fps (target 120) at 5120x1440p 49" odyssey. No stutters at all, ultra settings. Check my screens in the Community Hub. If you're a newb, we all were at one time, spend some watching some tutorials first. Do airstarts and just fly around solo at 6k setting up. Pause, do your controls, get your views sussed out. You will need to spend this time. Sims need it.
not worth £70, more like £12 no actually it should be maximum £3 and thats pushing it
I loved this game. The developers put a tremendous amount of work into recreating a large part of the Korean peninsula. The visuals are incredible, and when I'm with my squadron about to dive and attack enemy positions, I actually get butterflies in my stomach. I recommend this game to anyone passionate about the history of combat aviation. As a suggestion, I’d love to be able to print out mission briefings and download the map to study it before flights. Congratulations to the developers!
