I personally find this game very relaxing Highly recommended if you like building up your comfy little kingdom and watching it work and defend itself
I bought this game several years ago and have enjoyed it ever since. The game has continued to evolve over time, which keeps bringing me back. It is definitely worth the money, and the developers deserve all the support for their continued work.
I love this game. Sadly, it will never have a multiplayer option
Great city builder game. Still getting updates.
I've been playing this game for almost 10 years now and I still find myself coming back to it from time to time. So many many hours spent chilling playing this game with a podcast in the background. It is minimalistic in the best way possible and very easy to get into. If you're looking for a low stakes game like Banished or other simple city builders, you might enjoy this a lot. Thanks to the devs for all those years of fun and congrats on the new release of Nova Roma.
A competent little city builder game that I've spent many hours on. Does a good job of balancing complex9ty and simplicity. The task list is a little awkward, but very easy to get started with and much easier to manage than other games which use a priority based system. The AI implementation was a little half baked in my opinion. But they do make it a little harder which the game needs in its later stages.
If you're here because Nova Roma just came out and this game is cheaper, the answer is yes. If you're just looking for positive reviews for this game, the answer is still yes. This is a good game. There's a lot of nice details, satisfying combat, and complex resource management. This game is a paragon. It's good. It's fun. You've found that game, you can stop sifting through reviews, confident that the sale price that pulled you in is worth it.
Simple but addicting city builder.
The game is semi simple, fun city builder and resource management game. The game has simple mechanics that have some complex elements such as moving resources and such. I enjoy the city builder aspect and expanding my kingdom while making sure the citizens stay happy so more people come join, but i still make enough money through taxes. The diplomacy aspect and trading between kingdoms feels a bit lackluster with not too much to do. And the army mechanics and siege mechanics are pretty lacking when invading another kingdom, with you just placing a million catapults and archers near their main castle with a military alliance, then declaring war. All in all its a fun game that i recommend playing, but it feels like there are places they could expand more on.
Kingdoms and Castles is nice and cozy compared to a lot of other kingdom builders - or, at least, I play it that way with invasions and dragons off. Making medieval cities is pretty nice, and the simulation aspect is usually simple enough to be Building A solves Problem X, which is convenient when I don't want to engage a lot of my brain. The music cranks the cozy vibes up to 11 - I love the soundtrack and would go as far as to say it's the best aspect of the entire game. The color palette and simple visual design reinforce the coziness, where everything feels soft and optimistic. It's nice that even with hundreds of villagers and dozens of industries the game still runs really smooth, with no hiccups, stuttering, or slowdown - at any gamespeed, even super-fast. It's easy to just zone out and watch all the little people-boxes run around, going about their business. I will say, I wish Kingdoms and Castles and Diplomacy Is Not An Option would merge into the same game because I like the military aspect of that game, and I like the management/city building aspect of this game.
