King's Table - The Legend of Ragnarok

So far this is after one game - I'll update if anything is different after further games. This is to the ancient game HnefTafl what Battle Chess is to Chess. It gives a game played like HnefTafl with some variations on what you choose for special pieces, table, etc, but gives you little animated battles between the pieces. However it is from the same time period as the original Battle Chess so very pixelated and at times difficult to see clearly on a modern screen. But I enjoyed the game and appreciate having a Battle Chess version of this ancient game as well. I look forward to trying it more. I would recommend this for those interested in games like Battle Chess that don't mind the aged graphics and it running in Dosbox.

Хнефа атмосферная очень, и контента здесь на удивление прям много. Жаль, что правила игры в разных режимах совсем не объясняются: что делают уникальные юниты на особых сюжетных раскладках и т.д. Придётся, наверное, гайды на ютубе смотреть по этому поводу ಠ_ಠ

I understand that King's Table - The Legend of Ragnarok is a very old game, and I did not play it when it released at its time. However, objectively judging the game now makes it hard for me to give it a recommend. The game is clunky, dated, and somewhat confusing. Even though the concept was interesting, this has aged very poorly, and there are better "battle chess" like games.

Rather bad game, just because it's old doesn't make it good.

The game is straight from the DOS era. With heavy pixelization, somewhat delayed input recognition. This compounds with the tweaked rulesets of the game and the ease of making mistakes and clicking on invalid things. Altogether it is slim pickings for the Battle Chess simulations. Mira que los analisis de los juegos retro soy generoso,pero lo de este es para darle de comer aparte,un juego en teoria de ajedrez pero que no es de ajedrez,y que no viene explicado por ninguna parte,con lo que te puedes tirar horas hasta descubrir como funciona. Vamos lo que se llama una puta mierda....
