StreetStep: 21st Century Basketball

I've been wanting some updated arcade sports titles and i saw this one was coming out, sadly the game doesn't have enough content, deep enough game-play mechanics or modes to keep me interested don't get me wrong It has a nice charm to it and there is some decent strategy under the hood but if an update arises in the future adding in a taaaaaaad more I will definitely give it another go. I will say though for 8 dollars it serves its purpose.

With some hesitation I give this a cautionary thumbs up. While I think it's a neat game, it pales in comparison to classics like Street Hoop. AI is also super cheap. Like, dashing on the frame after you press the steal button kind of cheap. lol. It wouldn't be quite so egregious if your AI teammates were doing anything besides standing around. At many times it feels like you're playing 1 v 3 in the arcade mode because your teammates are just warm bodies sitting on positions you can pass to. By far my biggest complaint is the steal mechanic in general as what it actually does is simply knock the ball out of your opponent's hand. From there it seemingly goes a random direction and it's first come, first serve with possession after that. The AI often has someone running behind whoever has the ball tho so half the time they immediately regain possession so fast you'll question if you even got the steal in the first place. It's probably the thing that'll drive you the most crazy while playing arcade mode. All my gripes with the single player experience aside, I think it's still fun and would be a great game to play with a friend or pass the controller around at a group event as its simple mechanics make it quite easy to pick up and play. A versus setting against a human opponent more or less nullifies all my complaints about the AI as well so that is what ultimately pushes me to recommend this one. I think there are games out there that do what this does better, but that's not to say there isn't still a unique (almost Kunio-kun sports esque) fun to be had here.

While I love the sound design of the game and the simplicity, the bugs are to glaring. Time not stopping when I pause the game, control options are bad from the jump, my AI teammates not moving on defense, contesting a shot not mattering to alter shot outcomes. List goes on. Also no New York team SMD If it was 5 bucks, then sure. Hoping for a big update so the game can be solid. Currently playing for the challenge.

I played for nine minutes and did everything there is to do in the game.

It's a lot of fun! By completing the arcade mode with each team you unlock an alternate version with different stat priorities, which means you will be able to find a team whose stats best match your playstyle after a few arcade runs. My only criticism (and minor) is the lack of West Coast teams! Pass us some Seattle/Portland/LA teams in DLC :D

La jugabilidad es aburrida al tercer partido, los logros no (me) funcionan, no va en Deck y ni siquiera tiene un botón para salir al escritorio. Encima, el creador no responde a nada en el foro del juego. Un despropósito.
