Kero Kero Cowboy

This is a very good game with a pretty mid PC version. I'll start with the good: This is an amazing GBC platformer! In fact, the game is good enough to hold up outside of it's novelty of being a Gameboy game, which I find a lot of modern homebrew struggles to do. This is just a generally incredible game! For the Steam release, button prompts and tutorials were adjusted to accommodate keyboard and gamepad controls. It runs very well, and is light on resources. This would run on the most potato of potato PCs. However, the bad: The PC port isn't exactly bad, it's just barebones. There are no options, other than volume control. No video options, no button remapping, not even a fullscreen button. This makes the PC playing experience of this a little rough. I also noticed very little artifacting at the top of the screen caused by the emulator being used here, although I'd say that's not the fault of the developer. This is totally playable, and you will have a good time, however the lack of options is a little disappointing. It'd be super nice if the dev could include a ROM with the game files so that I could play it in another emulator, but it's not really necessary. Overall, this is a great game, please buy and play it. The issues described here are not deal breakers. You will have a good time with this game, and it's well worth the $10 asking price. Edit after finishing the game: I won't spoil anything but the end of this game is super cool and super difficult. There is a massive spike in difficulty in the final world, especially the final boss which at times felt downright unfair. But that could be a skill issue. idk.

I picked up a handheld emulator this year, Kero Kero Cowboy is the best GBC game I've played on it. It's fun and charming, with great boss fights.

A cute and fun platformer with big classic Kirby vibes. It's a real game boy color game, so it'll run on anything! Pro tip: extract the ROM and play it on your favorite emulator for extra features. I can't get the soundtrack out of my head!

A cute and straightforward platformer downscaled to run on Game Boy Color. As Kero Kero Cowboy, you clean up the vermin-filled west either by licking up enemies and tossing them Kirby-style, or select-equip a six-shooter that can run low on ammo. Largely side-scrolling levels with a few entertaining boss fights. It's not an all-encompassing retro revival title, like "Shovel Knight," but there's enough here to keep you entertained in handheld platformer fashion. Also, it's going to stay pretty cheap, with a 10 dollar price tag at its highest. Can't wait to see people retroactively stick this on some Game Boy Color configurations. And I can't wait to see more from the developers and designers.

Had an absolute blast with this game! It gave me a lot of good old school Gameboy vibes. If you're looking for a short, sweet and fun time this is the game for you!

Fantastic GBC platformer. One of the few I have finished to the end. Now the bonus levels, the completion of those is something yet to be attained in my playthrough. The music pops, the art subtle with balanced color palettes, and the level progression is just the way it should be, tough yet possible to beat. If you are looking for a gun slingin' frog in a hat wearing good time, look no further cowboy, you have found your cool drink which is this game.

No fullscreen option?! What the heck

Having been involved with this game since prior to release, I can confidently say that Kero Kero Cowboy is one of the best retro platformers on the market! The controls are tight, the gameplay always finds ways to keep things fresh, and the soundtrack BANGS.
