it was okay, one problem. Searching is a big deal.....
I remember playing the demo a while back and thinking that this game had something special and the full release dis not disappoint! The ambient sounds, the atmosphere, the enemies you can face, all are amazing! I finished the game in about 2 hrs 20 mins however I feel that it may take longer for some especially if you havent played the demo. This game is worth every penny. Dont skip on this one!
Welp. I've waited for this game for a long time. I've played the demo and was taken away by the atmosphere and the jumpscares. I'm a huge horror fan and I also appreciate when the developer puts small details or gags here and there for the exploring player to find. And this game has it all. I must say that the full version is nothing like the Demo. It's so much deeper, scarier and better designed. So, if you've only played the demo, I highly recommend you give the full version a try. One of the best things about Kelder is its replayability. I don't know how many times I've started the game over, be it due to me dying or just wanting to play it again, but it feels so different every time you play it. The RNG is really good. I loved the story and the different endings. It's very immersive and if you're a narrative loving person, I suggest you explore more and try to unlock all the endings. There's 3 in total. As a sucker for good level design, I must say this game is a solid 7/10 in that regard. I got lost a couple of times, but the maps are really helpful and will easily get you through the entire game. Kind of must in games tbh, otherwise there's no point. One thing that didn't really vibe with me was the slow and sort of delayed camera movement, but I realise that it's a part of the immersion so I'm gonna ignore it this time, but I really hope the next game THOs Dev produces has a more responsive movement. Great work! Can't wait to see what you've got in store for us next!
I bought Kelder on sale a couple months ago, I finally loaded it up. My wheel house is for sure horror and psychological horror games. I buy all games in this genre with a reasonable review rating. At the time of this review, I've roughly played around an hour and I think I can give my review on Kelder now. Pros * It's definitely got some scary stuff going on, I really appreciate the ambience and SFX * What I've seen from the enemies, they are nerve racking and look scary * The story seems promising and quite the mystery * Everything is dirty, darkly lit and creates a great atmosphere. The graphics aren't bad either! Cons * I don't like the map system in Kelder, why can't I just press M and bring up the map. Instead I have to press tab and select the correct map from my note book, it's a massive time waster. This also doesn't pause the game, so keep that in mind. * Kelder is one giant labyrinth that changes around, you can be transported around the map, be chased by an enemy and get lost. I even had a room appear to morph in front of me and take me back to the start. That was annoying because I didn't understand why. Getting lost is the negative here, with the map being confusing enough as it is, I don't ever know what direction I'm facing. There's no compass, so I'm constantly pulling up the map. The entire game from what I can see is needlessly confusing. * From what I've played, you can't fight the enemies in this game so you have to run and hide. Well good luck running, because it appears to me that you have a unknown, limited and hidden stamina bar. I was running from an enemy and pretty much ran out of gas and got caught. * In order to understand the story of Kelder and at times understand the mechanics of the game you have to find journals, notes and other things. For some reason, you can't just pick these up and add them to your notebook or keep track of what you've read, instead they stay behind. Which yet again, makes the game confusing as to what you've already read or where you've been. * The positive reviews for Kelder almost everyone has 2 hours or less of gameplay, which tells me they pretty much quit playing after they realized how complicated and confusing the game is. OR it means the Kelder is terribly short. Neither bode well. * No controller support. This is disappointing for me, because I play most noncombat horror games with a controller. Unfortunately my final verdict for Kelder isn't good. I can't seem to get into this one despite how spooky and scary it is. I'm too distracted by how intentionally complicated the game is. I want to be scared, but I don't want to get frustrated with how easy it is to get lost and how little help the map ends up being. Kelder has serious potential, but I also think the developers aren't going to be willing to change things to make it less complicated and confusing. I'm drawn to the conclusion that this is nothing more than a mediocre horror game, that I can't recommend without some serious changes. It's best to let this one sit in hope improvements are still on the horizon.
amazing atmosphere. It feels uneasy in a good way. sound design gives it even more eeriness
i really like this game. maybe some more quality of life settings but overall super cool vibe and experience!
Pretty cool game! I love the vibe and that disturbing feeling you get while exploring the basement. Perfect for a horror night!
A perfect simulator of “why did I even come here.” 10 basement doors of 10 — now I turn on the light even in my fridge.
The game is genuinely creepy. There were a few moments where it really got under my skin, and I honestly got scared a couple of times. The atmosphere does a great job of keeping you tense the whole time. I also really liked the SCP-inspired idea. Each monster feels different and actually has its own story, which made exploring way more interesting.
