A dark fantasy "bullet heaven" game with nice detailed pixelated graphics and good soundtrack. It mixes things up by introducing some characters that are mechanically different from the usual and one another (e.g. the ninja with fighting game-style directional inputs, or the necromancer that attacks with undead minions), some quests to progress into the game and curses that give negative effects but also boons if you manage to survive them. There's only 4 maps (and the last one is a lame small square one) but they all have a higher difficulty level, and some characters are way better/more powerful than others, but for the rest I had no problem with it. It's also not too grindy, unlike other similar examples. If you enjoyed games like Vampire Survivors, Halls of Torment or Nomad Survival, then most likely you will have a good time with this one too.
KEEPER'S TOLL is a great mix between survivors-like and ARPG. It features a wide cast of classes and features the same key features of a survivors-like, that means, plenty of mobs, in-run merchants, ton of attacks. It also incorporates ARPG elements very well with unique bullet hell bosses, limited healing potions and a minor quest system. It is more challenging than most in it's genre, which is a good thing. However, this fact is exacerbated by the game's poor balancing. Melee classes are far, far weaker than ranged one, making bosses take tens of minutes. While classes such as the Blood Maiden walk through the game with little resistance. While there are a wide range of attacks/weapons, the roguelike aspect is very lost in the game. You will very likely pick up every attack in a run, and upgrades are not "randomised" so it makes every run exactly the same. Next, meta-progression is well-paced, letting you complete character skill trees in a good amount of time. It also has a global skill tree that forces you into picking your points, instead of being able to unlock it all. However, there are very clear winners in that tree so most of that tree will not see play anyway. If you are looking for a bullet heaven that leans more towards ARPGs like Diablo II, then this is exactly the game for you. PROS: - Good variety of characters/attacks - Challenging bullet hell - Great incorporation of ARPG elements CONS: - Very poor balancing - Little roguelike aspects It is quite a good ARPG experience without all of the grind, just not a great bullet heaven.

DatModz plays this game and he is the reason I found this gem. Such an amazing game AND streamer!!! <3
Cool game with a variety of characters and interesting abilities. One of the better bullet heaven / survivor likes.
The aura of this game was that it stumbled backward into being a survivorslike. It seems like it was trying to be a combo of like, a diablo-ish wrpg and an action roguelike, only to realize that you kind of end up VS-adjacent at that point and then doing that, and the result was that it just didn’t feel like it was sure what it was doing. Unlike in most VS games, characters don’t have a starting weapon and unique stats, but their own entire weapon and skill set. This means, first, that they end up wildly unbalanced and there’s not much you can do about it. It also means that some of them just… aren’t fun, and that’s that. It also means you can’t really combine skills in interesting ways. While there is general metaprogression, it’s extremely limited, and most of your progression happens in individual skilltrees, which means it’s not particularly easy to bulk up the crappier characters and once you move from one character to the next you also have to loop back and start the maps over until that character catches up, which was annoying. Additionally, the game only has left/right aiming, which is a really weird choice for a genre where enemies come at you from all sides. The end result is just kind of boring and clunky. There are only 4 maps, so if you want to see the lategame bosses and such you end up having to grind the same maps over and over with each character and it’s just super uninteresting. Apparently the game feels disjointed and unsure about what it wants to be because, well, it is. According to a comment from the dev, it “used to be actually closer to a class system based elden-ring inspired action-rpg lite […] It ended up not being what we wanted but what we needed to do to make the game not a complete failure.” So, what’s here is the salvaged version of the project. Which, you know, it happens, but all the same isn’t particularly compelling as a buyer.
Great game, this should be more known
So, do you like the Survivor Genre, to shut your brain off and drink something when it's Friday and you don't know what else to do? Do you have no problem with mediocre pixel art and a repetitive but bumping soundtrack? Buy this! It's a steal. For real though, it's good, it's chill, you get powerful really quick, you progress really quick and yeah, this is a "shut off your brain and enjoy" type of game. Not great but does what it sets out to do. Recommended.
Somewhat mixed feelings on this. Some characters are fun, some are less fun. Ranger, Pyromancer and Blood Maiden were all good, with Pyromancer being the most overpowered of that set. Meanwhile, I managed to max the Bogatyr while being consistently unable to beat the hard version of the first level. As far as a genre, it's half a Vampire Survivors-like and half a skill-based action roguelite, and as such isn't a particularly good example of either, lacking the overpowered screen-clearing and custom builds with extensive rerolls / banishes of the former, but also feeling that luck is far too important for skill selection to consistently survive as the latter.
it's got the sauce
This game is a banger. Dont sleep on this one its a must have in the collection!!
