Katawa Shoujo is a romantic visual novel set in the fictional Japanese Yamaku High School for disabled children. Hisao's congenital heart defect forces him to move to a new school. Despite his difficulties, Hisao is able to find friends—and perhaps love, if he plays his cards right.

Maybe it's not for everyone, but damn, this game really hits I started playing it just out of curiosity, and now, after finishing it, I honestly don't think I'll ever find another visual novel this beautiful. I went through Hanako's route and got the good ending, and without spoiling anything, it became one of the most memorable experiences I've had in games What I can say is this: it's absolutely worth your time, and it's not just another sugarcoated romance, it wasn't beautiful because everything went well, but because It was real :) I also have to mention the soundtrack, some tracks are pure freaking eargasm because of the thing they instantly bring back memories of the little moments I had with this VN that I cherish, like daaamn Hanako is best girl imo, but I know the other routes are amazing too Long story short, I can't recommend this game enough, It's one of the very few games I'd genuinely call a 10/10. ^^
just play the greatest game evere (but download it on itch, since on steam there are no 18+ content :( emi is my waifu.

oh my god this visual novel is so good im in act 3 in hanako's route for now i just love the game and would recomand it for now its very slice of life and kindhearted i absolutely love it. i do hope it doesnt end in a bad ending and yes i know its stupid to rate a game without having played it fully. it helped me through a ddlc mod i played and got me back on my feets and i just love it (mod i played was fallen angel and i alt+f4 and uninstalled at some point because i was too scared and traumatized) but i love Katawa Shoujo its so nice i recomand it 100%
живу ради ханако
authentic game with a touching story. it shows how people with disabilities arent just "disabled people who need help", and that theyre their own people with strengths and weaknesses. the stories for every girl are emotional and simply just amazing. hisao is a great protagonist and hes the goat. rin tezuka on top btw best girl

I have never left a description on steam but this game is fire. I dont even like reading but I actually enjoyed the ending.
I have not beaten the game yet, but so far it is good, started off stronger than I expected, but hit all the right areas. I know ASD Level 1 does not count as a disability, but it's so far shown off a lot of what I feel everyday.
Although, I did not expect the MC to get a heart attack like that in the beginning off-rip. Should've known though when his heart started beating really fast.

What the ♥♥♥♥ was that?? WHAT TEH ♥♥♥♥????? I THOUGHT THEY WOULD HAVE A HAPPY ENDING, ♥♥♥♥ THIS GAME ♥♥♥♥ THIS ♥♥♥♥♥♥ GAME YOU PIECES OF ♥♥♥♥♥. ♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥ YOU. NO WA THIS IS HOW IT END, WHAT THE ♥♥♥♥???????????? THIS GAME IS SO ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥♥♥ I HATE EVERYONE WHO WORKED ON THIS [EICE OF ♥♥♥♥

Now that I have got it out of my system. this game is good but you cannot do that to me. I hope there is an ending where they end up staying together and everything is fine.

I have finished Hanako's good-ending route. Her story is greatly in-depth. I love it. THe ending has swept me into tears and they are still on my face as I write. I long for love, love I do not deserve, but if I ever get it, I hope it is like Hanako's love to the player's character [although, hopefully without the trauma, because much like the MC, I would not be equipped to handle it, but I would end up in a worse position than the MC. This game has left an empty feeling in me, not because it is terrible, but because I long for love and I wish there was more to Hanako and the MC's story that takes place after the ending we currently have for the good-ending of Hanako. I might try to repair my relationship with my ex, we talk still even if not much, ended on good terms even if I did not want it to. Like I usually leave off the reviews on games about love
: May all those who long for love, finally get it. -Nathan Slone, the lonely kid from Kentucky. Goodbye, I love you all.
