There are a lot of positives and some negatives in this game but for me the positives outweigh the negatives. I completely agree on detailed explanations on negative reviews so I recommend checking them out as I have nothing else to add. Other than that I think since it is free this was worth playing. Good luck in your careers Breda folks, well done! Especially the art I just loved it.
This game's visuals are spectacular! The gameplay is simple, and relaxing (and quite intriguing it even works in the first place), the music and sound design is good, and it's all tied together with a nice story. I can't believe I enjoyed this much a walking, fetch quest simulator galore, but the execution was phenomenal.
A good game but could have been a lot better.
Has a lot of potential. Definitely worth playing, especially as it's free. Story ~ Interesting Graphics & sound fx ~ Well done Music ~ Repetitively annoying so I turned it off Dialogue ~ No voice acting, uses text boxes Saves ~ No manual saves Controls ~ Best with a controller. (I'm mostly a KB&M player) No mouse control and the KB option is fiddly to use. Map ~ No in-game map Need to remember or take notes. Can be confusing at first. Inventory ~ Volatile All items are lost when died/fade away. Need to re-craft again. VERY annoying and unnecessary, spoils story immersion. Tutorial ~ Lacking More information/instruction needed to identify the items needed to read the runes and crafting recipes. Too ambiguous and guessing required.
I liked the game I just got unlucky I guess cause I went back through a second play through to get the "Mortal Immortal" Achievement, and didn't get it even though I never died.
I recommend it for the most parts but not for how tedious and time consuming it is mostly in the bad ways. I appreciate the attempt to its level design but the designer seem to have become shortsighted and forgot to think of the player experience. Or maybe it's almost as if whoever made the level design didn't coordinate too well with whoever designed their fetch quests/missions. While there are attempts at improving the quality of life in navigating throughout the map, it wasn't just enough. I think the majority of my time is from the pain points I encountered alike to the negative reviews by the others. The game got badly stretched out for: - how little your inventory is, (items max stack of 5) - losing all your items upon death, - how easily you can fall off edges to either your death or to a mushroom and eventual death, - how little window of time you have to escape the mist if you accidentally fall in, - how vague the game hints out what you should do on top of where, - no in-game map, (depleting health will make you scramble to finding the nearest statue and consuming more time while trying to find what you should do or where to go next) - no stickied option for recipes, (better take notes!) Been trying out the games from this school and this one is one of the top. It's a pretty solid game even if it's a school project in terms of minimal bugs, the visual, writing, asset designs, and more. I hope the team and future students will learn from this great project on what they did right and wrong. It's way better than most indie games I've tried out that never got to see the daylight past early access and yet has the gall to ask for money in exchange of disappointment.
I appreciate the effort put into this.. The art is great! As a student project, A+ for effort, A+ for art design. F for fun factor . (also lack of key rebinding) ALL projects would fail immediately if i was grading, and they didn't have key rebinding :P "game play' didn't have anything that engaged me. (granted i didn't get far into it... but that's kind of the problem.) the crafting mechanic was kind of clunky & uninteresting / fun. (seemed to just need to have the items in inventory VS having to find a recipe or trial/error or put the items into slots to create..) generally I''m okay with a lesser crafting.. if there's other game play I'm more interested in.. interacting with NPC was uninteresting / fun (not sure if they didn't have time.. but the intro art used as NPC cut scenes would have at least enhanced the interaction) I don't think there's combat (?) so... As a student project.. depending on what they were trying to do it it not sure if ti succeeded or failed.
I vote it for the "Labor of Love" in Autumn 2022
definitely one of the best games ive ever played, and from what i gather it was only a school project. very well made overall.
