[h1]KAREN SEES: Five Nights At Freddy's Meets Slenderman [/h1] KAREN SEES is a chaotic, fast-paced horror game where you battle an AI as night guard Bob. Karen has broken into the mall looking for you and the manager, wanting both of your demise. In this adventure, you're presented with a choice of three difficulties, although the distinctions between Normal and Hard are currently unclear. My initial playthrough was on Normal, and later, I explored Easy to note the differences, although they seemed somewhat subtle. The premise might sound cliché – searching for and eliminating ten notes or complaints – suggesting an easy task, but it's far from a walk in the park. The complaints have randomized but somewhat familiar locations, often leading to the discovery of 5 to 8 complaints with relative ease, only for the final ones to prove elusive. I distinctly recall two '9/10'-runs where I spent half an hour scouring for the last elusive note, all while being meticulously hunted by KAREN, resulting in some heart-pounding moments. My expectations weren't initially sky-high due to what appeared to be a lack of originality, but KAREN's unpredictability added a layer of excitement that I didnt quite expect. A word of advice: don't solely rely on auditory cues to evade her, the AI for this character is pretty good for a $5 dollar game. it honestly surprised me, you can't just cheese the AI. While I may attempt a Hard run, I can't help but feel a tinge of disappointment regarding the limited content. Nevertheless, the game does exhibit untapped potential for some slice of life updates. it's good, could be better but I honestly can't complain.

Fun little horror title that pits you, an overnight security guard, stuck inside a mall with a crazy Karen that broke in to leave ten complaints throughout. You're tasked with retrieving them all without being caught. The only gripe I have is that there's little indication how close Karen is. A number of times the audio echoes as though she's on the other side of the building, only for Karen to appear out of nowhere behind me as if she teleported there. Not a problem, just better audio levels relative to distance between on the comical complaints and threats would have been nice. I grabbed this in the bundle that features OSK and STARBO for $1.40 (USD), and it was well worth it. If you enjoy titles like Slender or Lunch Lady, this game is worth even the full $4.99 (USD) price tag.

Developed by Diax Arts, Karen Sees is a stealth based exploration game where you have to hide, trick and avoid a nightmare inducing client, while looking for complaints around a huge mall. The game is quite tense although it has some very amusing moments. Karen is relentless, (as a Karen should be), and she will not rest until you hear her complaint, or die trying. There's no way to be sure, one must just trust the developer... and given how incredibly unethical they are, would you? The acid test with asset re-use is straightforward... is the developer trying to claim credit for assets they didn't create themselves? Are those assets the majority of the game? KAREN SEES fails on both counts. Because this is comprised of an almost exact 1:1 copy + paste of the original Unity asset, it's in violation of the [url=https://unity.com/legal/as-terms]Unity Asset Store Terms of Service and EULA[/url]. Specifically, Section 2, Subsection 2.2.1a: [i]Subject to the restrictions set forth in this EULA, Licensor hereby grants to the END-USER a non-exclusive, non-transferable, worldwide, and perpetual license to the Asset solely:(a) to incorporate the Asset, [b]together with substantial, original content not obtained through the Unity Asset Store[/b], into an electronic application or digital media that has a purpose, features, and functions beyond the display, performance, distribution, or use of Assets ("Licensed Product") as an embedded component of that Licensed Product, [b]such that the Asset does not comprise a substantial portion of the Licensed Product[/b][/i] Because the developer misused the asset pack such that it comprises the vast majority of this "game", the developer has unethically and deliberately breached the license agreement. Worse, this intellectual property violation was done in an attempt to profit from their illicit actions. Why is this permitted on Steam? In fairness, while the asset does comprise the vast majority of this asset flip, there is a "game" here... but it's just a very weak ripoff of FNAF, only with worse graphics and gameplay. The products that result from asset flips aren't "real" games. They lack depth and content, because they're just simplistic copies of demos or tutorials. In this case, "Polygon Shops Unity Pack" is just a basic Unity asset pack featuring low poly shopping mall assets, and doesn't have any merit as a proper, fully fledged PC game, so this copy+paste of it can't be recommended. Asset flips don't involve any professional game development. Sure, sometimes they may change a few cosmetic things, swap out different assets etc, but at heart it's functionally identical to the asset they're ripping off. Asset flips like this are harmful to the gaming industry and to Steam because they reduce the visibility that sincerely made indie games should have, and make it harder for gamers to find real games from genuine developers. Don't reward this morally bankrupt, unethical behaviour from Diax Arts. This is usually caused by poor sales figures and low community acceptance for the game (to date). Until this status changes, this game will not give you +1 to your Game Collector badge count, appear in profile achievements or any other Steam meta-accomplishments, nor can it be displayed in some profile showcases. If these factors are important to you, it may be worth holding off before buying this game.
