Karakuri-kun: A Japanese Tale

A beautiful story about Japanese cultures and the origins of Japan

A short RPGMaker game that tries to wedge a quiz game about medieval Japan inside a bare-bones old school JRPG. The concept is appealing, but the execution and technical issues are a lot to overcome. The "quiz game" consists of talking to multiple characters who dump pages of text on you, and then getting quizzed by another character on what they all said. Get one question wrong and you start over from the beginning. The "RPG" part mostly consists of random battles against the same 5 monsters while you walk through the handful of outdoor areas in the game. Your starter spell costs no MP and can be spammed infinitely, and it is very easy to pump your defense stat with "Sashimi" (earned from fishing) to the point where you're untouchable by anything (including the main game's bosses). This makes the combat side of things little more than interruptions that drag out the game. Glitches are common, such as NPCs flying around the screen during dialog, and the one other character that briefly joins your party not having any sprites in combat. After finishing the main story, you are given a vague promise of "more secrets to find" without any hints. I did find a hidden post-game boss that obliterated me. Maybe there is something hidden that makes that boss doable, but I wasn't willing to keep grinding those same 5 enemies any longer to find out. To its credit, I *DID* learn some basic facts about Japanese history and historical figures, and the game has some absolutely lovely pixel artwork. With more time and care, this game could be something worthwhile. But as it is now, I can't recommend it.

Однажды создатель игрушек создал свой первый шедевр - живого японского робота. Эта история позволит вас погрузиться в изучение японской истории самураев и периода Эдо. СЮЖЕТ Вам предстоит погрузиться в изучение истории и японской культуры вместе Каракури-кун. Вам предстоит играть за робота, созданного производителем детских игрушек, которого оживил синтоистский священник. ОСОБЕННОСТИ Три разных костюма с разными силами стихии. ГЕЙМПЛЕЙ Перед нами довольно интересная и хорошо проработанная игра на движке RPG-Maker. История начинается с того, что кукольному мастеру удаётся оживить куклу-робота, которая ему начинает помогать с делами в лавке. В один из дней, когда мастер спал, в лавку проникает вор и похищает одну из игрушечных кукол. Наша кукла-киборг отправляется на поиски. Тут всё в лучших традициях игр на движке RPG Maker. Красочные карты хорошо прорисованы, сюжет интересный, продуманный. Множество разнообразных предметов, оружия, магии, и разного вида прокачки. За победу в боях нам дают деньги и разные предметы, а так же повышается общий уровень. Можно использовать магию и обычные удары, а так же просто сбежать с поля боя. Есть полное управление с геймпада. Игра полностью переведена на английский язык, хотя сделана в Японии. Приятная фоновая музыка. Есть сохранения в виде кристаллов, разбросанных по карте. Огромным плюсом тут является полноэкранный режим игры. По ходу игры вы будете погружаться в японскую культуру и историю, узнаете о таких личностях, как Миямото Мусаши и ода Нобунага. ПЛЮСЫ Интересный сюжет. Полная поддержка геймпада. Приятная фоновая музыка. Игра переведена с японского на английский. МИНУСЫ Нет русской локализации. Gra bardzo ciekawa ale bardzo krótka, mam nadzieje że wyjdzie wersja pełna, polecam wszystkim :)

this is such a refreshing game using the the rpg maker tool we got ourself a educational yeah educational game but really fun and cool educational game cause it does well both being a game and being educational you learn quite interesting facts about japanese history and the edo period is really nice! plus it has a fishing mini game and that is another thing make this game a lot of epic :) great job dev <3
