Great little tower defence game.
Can't seem to build the first building in Level 1.1 :/

I Like this game, most levels take multiple play throughs to get 3/3 objectives (Stars, in most other games), and although I can understand grinding may make it easier I have not had to do any grinding for upgrades yet (2 of 6 worlds complete). The biggest advantage in the second play through is knowing the enemy types and directions, as there are four tower types in this game and each is very effective at countering certain types of enemies. Using the right tower types in the right zones is key to winning, unlocking all of the upgrades is not required. The actual gameplay is a lot like revenge of the titans, where you have harvestors and turrets and have to defend with the limited resources that your harvestors provide, except you actually have to collect said resources and build the towers within your characters range. You are also encouraged to be close to the enemies to pickup science upgrade points for your permanent upgrades to towers / character. I find that this keeps me busy for every map on the first play through and only on repeat playthroughs (If I missed objectives) do I find myself with enough time to wait for the waves to spawn. The game provides a fun amount of challenge and gives you the tools to overcome it.
Cute graphic, interesting mechanics, but incredibly high difficulty. Simply not fun(
Yes
Kaiju Panic is one-of-a-kind indie game that blends TD and RTS as you have to micromanage every turret around the map and physically walk by as the field commander, I see many people did not like it because of its difficulty, it is likely that the cute graphics are misleading for casual enjoyers and drive away the hardcore RTS/TD enthusiasts. The point is, the game is very, very fun if you're willing to lose once or twice every level and learn from your mistakes and memorize wave layouts. by my criteria, the game is a solid 8.5/10 Content 8/10 Many turrets to choose from. A funny (With a heartwarming ending) campaign with 6 Zones and 30 levels in total, civilian bios (reminds me of The Battle Cats) and an endless mode. The game's balancing works in a rock-paper-scissors way as some turrets are effective or ineffective against certain types of enemies, utility buildings do their own things too and stuff. It's satisfying to watch the Kaijus pop from heavy fire once you've built up a good defense. My only frustration comes from late game having nothing to purchase with research points (if you want to 3 star every level before moving onto the next that will be a problem) - progression pretty much stops at Zone 5 and 6 once you researched EVERYTHING. It'd be cool if you could dump some of that for other perks or temporary buffs. Gameplay Loop 9/10 personally, it did not get as tedious as many people say it did. 75% of players didn't even beat ZONE 1, the game is fun to learn and it's rewarding to understand how certain mechanics (Like missiles flying over mountains or what turrets pierce armor or shields better, how to put your barricades or make kill zones) work and beat large maps in the later zones and levels. Final levels of each zone are always the most intense, especially final level in America felt like I'm playing Command & Conquer on BRUTAL with the ♥♥♥♥-ton of enemies and orbital bombardments I had to carry out just to survive. It is repetitive in it's core, though. Put down mill, rescue civilians, get crystals, build defenses and win, but it's hella addictive. Mechanics 7/10 It's alright. The game is pretty simple with the mechanics it has, acid turrets do acid damage and break armor, laser turrets burn and stop regeneration, cannons just do cannon things, explosives do explosive things. Missiles fly over mountains. Enemies can resist stuff and have gimmicks. The switches and buttons are very under-utilized in the campaign and appear only in Tutorial, Zone 4 and Zone 6. Nothing too crazy, nothing too bland. User Friendliness 7/10 This is the part many people dislike. But this is the game's punishing aspect, if you lose you must learn from your previous run and so on until you win the level or get enough rsearch to buy the needed turret. It can be incredibly intense to evacuate and manage multiple fronts at the same time whilist having to run to each and build defenses and manage what turrets to fill with civilians and what not. Having not enough resources prompts you to run back to get them whilist leaving the frontline unattended and usually gets your defenses and civlians killed unless you built enough turrets so that some of them not having civils to buff them is no longer a problem. I love intense RTS or TDs. This was the type of game for me! Replayability 6/10 Eh. There is only 1 campaign and really, there's nothing to do after it but Endless mode. You can delete your save files and play the campaign all over with all progress wiped. It's fun only if you're a completionist or want to 3 star everything or get all the achievements, or experience the progression again on a personal note, this game was one of my favorite childhood indie games to watch. When I said it is one of a kind, I truly mean you will never find anything like this game (only Pixeljunk Monsters comes teeny-weeny bit close) with it's intense evacuation/defensive RTS and satisfactory TD typa gameplay. It's up there with Castle Story, Planetary Annihilation, The Universim, Omegalodon, Infectonator, TABS and Spore for me in terms of uniqueness for a game's respective genre. I loved this game very much aswell as the ending, thank you for being one of those first novelty games for 9 year old me, Kaiju Panic. And many thanks to Mechabit for this amazing game, good luck to them with their newer projects!

So far, the game has been a ton of fun! At the time of writing this review, I've only done 0.1 hrs but even then, the concept is really cool! The art style is something else, and it's somewhat unique and uses the idea of Kaiju to it's advantage. Would I recommend this game? Heck yeah!
