Played for over 2 hours, got bored with it, and stopped playing for a long time. Fast forward to now, I got back on because I saw Mercenaries gameplay, felt nostalgic, and wanted to play the closest thing I could get to a modern Mercenaries game. Get on the game only to find that my save file disappeared. Great stuff, guess I play something else because the clowns can't get a save system right.
I wish steam had an "eh" rating for games, Just Cause 4 feels like one step forward and two steps back from its predecessor. If you're looking for more Just Cause, this will scratch that itch, but if you're coming fresh from Just Cause 3, you'll be in for a bit of disappointment.

I can only confirm what other reviews say. If you want more Just Cause, this game is going to be satisfactory. But if you expect the quality of Just Cause 3 and the raw action hero feel with great plot and characters, this would be a huge disappointment. I bought the gold edition on pre-order, thinking I was going to get Just Cause 3 but better. I thought I was buying all those promises of dynamic weather phenomena essentially working like a survival mechanic on top of an action gem with amazing physics. What I got was... just crust. I had a lot of fun with this game, still, but I still so much regret the huge amount of money I paid for this. Because it bought me so much less than Just Cause 3. I don't know how you can put so much effort in a game and have it end up so bad, then not even explain yourself. It was perhaps what kicked off in the game industry what was already happening in the movie industry: Rushed attempts at cash cows that end up so much worse than if they had just let the series rest in peace rather than desecrate their corpses. And the saddest thing: It works. The people buy these games. Else, this wouldn't exist. I never bought any game again after this when I didn't know objectively how it was going to turn out/how it did turn out. tl;dr: It's definitely playable, it's definitely Just Cause, the environment is nice at least, but it lacks the soul of Just Cause 3. You'll have to get creative to have fun, and you can if you are. But if you want to settle for nothing but Just Cause 3's quality, don't buy this.
I am a fan of the series but I have mixed feelings about this particular game. Good things: - Beautiful map and nature. - Graphics and visual effects. - Optimization. - Character interacts with objects very naturally. - Feature-rich grapling hook. Bad things: - Killing enemies is an absolute waste of time becasuse they respawn constantly. - Weird key bindings and lack of full mouse support. - Cars feel like toy. - Weird FOV and it cannot be configured. - Weird camera. - Constantly repeating phrases (I especially hate using copters because the character sings the same star wars motive every 2 minutes). - Irritating music. - Unstable on Windows and doesn't run in Proton on Linux. - Cannot care less about the plot and the characters. - Using vehicles is almost pointless because the character is much more powerful. It feels similar to JC3 but is less polished and more irritating.
Everything is worse than Just Cause 3. all the controls were changed for no reason to buttons that don't make any sense (for example who on earth thought using "1" as the inventory button was a good idea???), the graphics are worse, performance is terrible despite having good PC specs especially for an 8 year old game (stuttering, graphical inconsistencies, etc.), the UI is worse, etc. Not worth the money.
Very fun, don't even need friends to make it enjoyable, the campaign is also cool
Many people hate on this game however in terms of messing around it is very fun. I enjoy playing this game while listening to music and just messing around and making the black hand mad. I have played this game for probably 100+ hours on playstation and I would reccommend it to anyone wanting an experience to just fool around or even play through the story which is fine.
I already knew JC4 was a downgrade from the last but I did not expect to have it freeze and/or crash on me for any type of movement. Game will freeze if I shoot an enemy, if there's an explosion, if I even turn the camera, or if I even dare to open the map. Don't waste your money on this.
