Very cool and unique game. Think Doom x Supershot x Top down view. Lots of builds to try and you can play as fast or as slow as you want. Or to try as hard or as little as you want. Lots of challenges as well and difficulty levels. There's a lot to learn and the gameplay itself is also interesting. As some examples: My favorite builds are scout - assassinate x swashbuckler for melee teleportation - bonus damage for ranged then if you kill with ranged you get bonus melee damage Or gun kata, if you want to be in the matrix dodging and double wielding pistols and smg's For marine you can turn any slash damage into pierce - shotgun killzone everything goes poof Or technician and you can put everything on fire. The world will burn! or summon bots to help you. These are the most interesting for me, but there are plenty of other builds as well. Only thing i wish this game had was an option for more enemies on lower difficulties. Nothing beats the satisfaction of killing everything on screen with a well positioned shotgun blast. But usually the higher difficulty, the more enemies you get, but they also hit harder. I find the Hard difficulty a good middle ground. Anyway, very fun game, I am really enjoying my time with it. And it's easy to get back to and just chill if you need it.
nope
Excellent traditional roguelike (not lite) that is both streamlined and approachable but extremely challenging. Fantastic design and the difficulty curve is near perfect. This is a game that even experienced roguelikers will probably want to learn the game on Easy rather than jumping into the deep end. Even Easy is not really all that 'easy' until you know what's up. Tons of variety, secrets, build diversity, cool weapons and skills. Highly recommended.
Way too much fun for how simple it really is. Incredibly addicting gameplay with massive replay value. I will say, maybe my only gripe with the game IS that after a certain amount of playtime it does start to feel kind of same-y. Like past 130 hours maybe I didn't find all that much value in playing it, routes especially feel repetitive, potentially because stuff like the boss of the first base is always the same and the bases pretty much start in the same way every run too. Like this game, plus a whole lot of additional variety could turn this into a game with literally infinite replay value. I would rank Jupiter Hell just sort of under the echelon of other similar fun games like Binding of Isaac, or Dungeons of Dredmor. Really, I feel like Dungeons of Dredmor does this but with a lot more variety in terms of enemies, loot, and classes.
too hard for me, but it is fun to waste time on Jupiter
Best modern traditional roguelike
Great Duke Nukem remake 😉
its not a very pretty looking or sounding game and its not a very balanced or deep roguelike- maybe not even a very good roguelike, but its still a lot of fun because the idea of Doom 1+2 as a top down turn based combat game is pretty cool and it really does nail that, it feels like Doom if it were a roguelike. kind of like dungeons of dredmor for me where its maybe not a very balanced roguelike but its extremely accessible and has enough flavor to be interesting, probably for like 40-60 hours and then i'll probably be disgusted i spent so much time on it thats still pretty good value for the price
Duke, Doom & Diablo's kid. Wouldn't ya know it... all outta gum. Just as humanity messes with science and evil once again. 🕶️ Turn-based gameplay makes kicking-ass more sophisticated & classy. Old school, all-out ass-kicking still works. Everything tastes better on sale.
