I can't recommend this game to anyone except hardcore RGG fans. This game is trying to be like Shenmue, but lacks that game's fidelity because it's based in the Yakuza universe, which replaced meticulously organized time-based systems with a binary night/day one. Because it's de-emphasising combat, for at least the first five hours, you're gonna be sitting there watching cutscenes and dialogue while walking around Kamurocho from point A to point B with nothing happening in between. Achievements tell the story: 93% of players managed to unlock one achievement, but it should be a warning what kind of grind you're in for when the number of players who have unlocked two or more achievements falls to 62%. It's a steep climb to get to the part of this game that will keep you playing. I'd recommend other RGG titles (specifically, whatever the most recent title is, or Yakuza 0, or Yakuza: Like a Dragon) over this if you're a first-time player of these series. I'm only here because I've beaten all the other Yakuza games, and it's having a hard time keeping my attention over American Truck Simulator.
combat's so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ bad, yakuza 6 seems perfect in comparison
