About
Joy Malignant is a short, surreal dice-based RPG where your past is a tool. In a cursed city filled with suffering, your past shapes your skills and your appearance. Survive the city's hellish trials, meet tortured characters, and develop your own unique indentity. Every choice matters as your actions will literally shape you.
In Visceria, your appearance is shaped by your past. As a faceless, your past has been erased. Through surviving in this hellish city, you will meet characters and make choices that will shape you, developing your personality, appearance, and abilities.
Manage your resources, use dice to perform actions, and play to your personality's strengths to survive in the city. Do what you must to survive, and try not to lose yourself in the process.
Everyone's appearance is shaped by their past. Meet tortured characters and analyze their history by seeing their Mosaic, then use it to your advantage.
Your mosaic starts out empty, then is shaped by your experiences. As you make choices, you will gain more parts of yourself. This will afffect your stats and abilities, as well as your appearance. Be careful, you can't change the past after its happened!
Life in Visceria is twisted and painful, especially for a faceless like you. Try to hold onto your sanity while frequenting dirty ruins, slaughterhouses, decrepit bars, bloody hospitals, and more.

Really cool game! Extremely unique concept, with a brisk pace that is refreshing in a genre that often requires weeks of a person's life to get through. Was nice to be able to make a difference in a surreal, bleak world.
Wonderful experience! An unusual world with striking visuals and excellent sound design/music. There is a colourful cast of characters and the writing is great. The story flows along at a brisk pace with plenty of choices and a yearning to uncover the next bit. Played entirely in one sitting, which is quite rare for me. Brings up plenty of moral choices without felling preachy. Only two very minor things I would have preferred. Ultrawide screens have an issue of being snapped to the horizontal size but not the vertical for some things so a few bits of text or buttons to proceed were cut off (no doubt the dev can fix this if they see it). I would have loved to see things from the street view and really get a feel for being in this surreal, grimy city. The overhead view feels a little detached from the setting but the characters are great to still pull you into the world. Highly recommended!

Everything about this game, the writting, the design, and the thrill of seeing what ur character becomes had me completely hooked. I loved how each NPC was a fully realized character with their own story and quirks. The gameplay was so enjoyable, even though this is usually not my kind of game. I rarely replay choice-heavy games to see different outcomes, but with this one, I cannot imagine not playing it at least a few more times to see my new mosaics. Great way to spend ur evening (or a few)!!
Played the demo and had to wait for this man. This is so amazing! A great experience. Thank you for making this game.

A really nice, short RPG. I'm not the best at writing reviews, but, yeah it was well worth the money.
A short yet enjoyable experience, I didn't feel lost for long playing, the characters ended up all being enjoyable and rubbed off on me even when I didn't like them to start with. A character I expected to hate was still one I found respect for, and I don't believe any of them are so wrong to be evil. The game has charm and I was always excited to see the next mosaic and develop my own... I didn't realise I was such a masochist though. Definately worth more than one playthrough, a nice game for a rainy day, matches the atmosphere.
