About
Joy Malignant is a short, surreal dice-based RPG where your past is a tool. In a cursed city filled with suffering, your past shapes your skills and your appearance. Survive the city's hellish trials, meet tortured characters, and develop your own unique indentity. Every choice matters as your actions will literally shape you.
In Visceria, your appearance is shaped by your past. As a faceless, your past has been erased. Through surviving in this hellish city, you will meet characters and make choices that will shape you, developing your personality, appearance, and abilities.
Manage your resources, use dice to perform actions, and play to your personality's strengths to survive in the city. Do what you must to survive, and try not to lose yourself in the process.
Everyone's appearance is shaped by their past. Meet tortured characters and analyze their history by seeing their Mosaic, then use it to your advantage.
Your mosaic starts out empty, then is shaped by your experiences. As you make choices, you will gain more parts of yourself. This will afffect your stats and abilities, as well as your appearance. Be careful, you can't change the past after its happened!
Life in Visceria is twisted and painful, especially for a faceless like you. Try to hold onto your sanity while frequenting dirty ruins, slaughterhouses, decrepit bars, bloody hospitals, and more.

Great short game. I really enjoyed the ideas and diallogue. Play it if you like Disco Elysium or Citizen Sleeper.
Very Disco, if not in form or complexity then in spirit. Visuals are interesting, music is pleasant and writing is very good.
Short, sweet and enjoyable.

Wow, just wow. I've only played about 10 minutes so far, but this is already a strange, unique gem. The narrative is already gripping, the characters I've met engaging, and the mechanics are interesting and fresh. I'm hoping this one doesn't fly under the radar. This needs to be seen. 9$ is a steal for something that obviously has a ton of love put into it.
the kids are alright. great fun indie. feels like the homie in college read some fun psy lit and made a collab of Citizen and Elysium. 9/10 put your forum minds away and vibe with the world not your own opinions
Very interesting and creative experience.
So, I have enjoyed the game. There are many choices despite the short play time. Different characters react to your mosaic, and your choices are more or less laid out to you at the end of the game. The only thing is that I wish after your last choice, there was a epilogue. It felt like the game ended too abruptly after the last confrontation, when the whole game has been spent building up to it and figuring out who you are as a player. I do hope the developer can flesh it out the ending just a little more. Overall, I do recommend it.
Take note, indie developers: it is actually possible to make a game about an amnesiac main character with very good writing and NOT make it in FSCKING ISOMETRIC
A surreal, dreamlike short experience with mechanics very reminiscent of Citizen Sleeper. I love the unique setting, which is a strange mutated city after the world was affected by a godlike entity, and where people's actions and memories influence their physical appearance. For the price it's very good, but as I said it's quite short, and the replayability/branching doesn't seem to be huge. You can get a bunch of different appearances by the end though and I do like the way they culminate in your final form to show the kind of person you are. If you're obsessed with Citizen Sleeper (like me), this will scratch the itch
i felt joy in something so simple, 8/10
