Quick Score: 5/5 Notes: Really fun and underrated game. Quite a bit of content and fairly challenging as well. Took about 16 hours to 100% the game.
Another example of a good indie game that was completely washed out by the tide of garbage constantly sweeping over this platform.
I think the developer is inspired by the game "Prehistoric 2" which was awesome (e.g: look at the first boss; it comes from prehistoric 2, level 7; the buzz enemy also comes from it). I think there should be a lot of fans of the game. This game is so hard that i managed to get 10 % progress after 6 hours! Designed obviously for hardcore gamers. Gameplay: The game has novel appoaches like you throw your weapon and jump over and you take your weapon to reach higher platforms. Weapons are varied and have different physics. You only have 3 lives in a level and when you hit by something you lose one heart but not become invincible for a few seconds (which make the game so much challenging). I recommend the developer to put at least 1 second invinciblity in that situations or as a difficulty option. When facing the enemy they are hard to kill and if you appoach them a little bit they steal your weapon immidiately and use against you. Obstacles are hard to overcome and varied. You can double jump to avoid them but it is not easy and irreversible if you fail. Conclusion: If you like old style gaming, graphics are very well designed and the gameplay contributes far more than the old games. Maybe the hardest platformer i have ever played, you get the success feeling even without getting gold medal (the game is intentionally desinged for speedrun but even finishing the levels is quite difficult). Considering a very long gameplay time, this is also a value choice. It is fun!
Journey of Johann has been a bit of a surprise for me, I was not expecting this title to be very challenging, boy was I wrong, the time I have put in so far has been a challenge all the way! The levels are all challenging and make you think about how to approach the level and not just go balls deep and rush in, that normally ends in death on this game! This game boasts 103 levels! If that was not enough you can also get bonus levels, I’m assuming from collecting all of the collectables on each level, I have not yet got this far and expect it to take many more hours to get there! This game also has 5 super fun bosses to defeat! And there is nothing more I enjoy then a good boss fight! This game also has a really good sound track and in this day and age where people have access to some incredible music, it is an integral part of a game! So, far I’m having loads of fun, but also getting a little frustrated at how hard some of the levels are! But if it was easy it would not be worth playing! I recommend this title to the Indie community and anyone else who loves good challenging games! Full Video Review coming soon!
After a few hours of playing this game, this is what i have to say. Johann is a fantastic game and fantastic to spend time on, i don't regret a second of it. The game has such a pretty art style to it, yet it seems to not understand / utilize it. Its such a hidden gem, i really don't understand how the mainstream hasn't caught on yet. Its ALMOST as good as Detective Puz, but good luck ever being that good. 10/10, i hope i still play this game when i'm old and rusty

this game needs more visibility
It is very well done, with nice animations and decent sound. I find it a bit too frustrating at times, but if you like a challenge, it's worth a shot.
