For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. About
The court jester, Madion, wakes up by the king's lifeless body. A demonic curse has struck down every true citizen, and driven others to madness. Madion is torn between seeking the truth, helping the survivors, and a desire to escape.
From the author of Demonheart comes a new visual novel in a similarly dark setting, dealing with themes of murder, love, trust, and deceit.
Story of over 90.000 words.
Important lines are voiced over.

You play as Madion, the jester who has lost his memories. Having been forced into a life of chaos, uncertainty and deceit, Madion starts off feeling conflicted, jealous and spiteful. He needs to let go of his dark thoughts and redeem himself. You can make choices for him, affecting his relationships with the other characters.

Lady Lucille was forced to live in the king's palace while he waged war on her homeland. Quiet and cunning, she adapted quickly. Lucille believes she understands Madion, and is always there to support him.

An orphan of common origins, Calix received a favorable place in the palace thanks to his good looks and charisma. Some believed he was involved with the king, but Calix's eyes were set elsewhere.

As the king's alchemist, Edwina used to follow His Majesty's every command. She is strict and slightly paranoid, with a cold exterior, but Madion sees a different side of her.

Definite step up from Ice Demon, love the story
Jester/King is a VN that I have a little difficulty recommending even though my over all experience is positive. This is a story that is best experienced blind, but here is as spoiler-free of a rundown as I can make it: Madion is the jester for the King Damian of Quilissia and a frequent target of cruel king's abuse. After losing consciousness, Madion awakens amid the ruins of the once opulent palace near the slain body of the king. He had no memory of what transpired to cause both the king's death and destruction of the kingdom. After wandering empty palace, he connects with the only other three people left alive. No one has any memories of what happened, but everyone is hiding secrets. Madion's three companions are: Edwina, the royal alchemist, who seems to know the most about what's going on but is also the least trustful of Madion's allies. Lucille, a noble prisoner of war being held hostage in Quillisia, who seems innocent at first glance but has the greatest motive to want the king dead. Finally, Calix, an orphaned street urchin that the king has taken a special interest for reasons unknown. From here, Madion must navigate the story's dialogue options to uncover the eleven clues needed to solve the mystery and maybe fall in love with one of his companions. While I enjoyed untangling the convoluted plot, I feel that it is a lot stronger in concept than execution. It has some pretty severe pacing pacing issues. The first few hours of the story are a bit of a slog as Madion slowly wandering the abandoned castle with no clue what is going on until the story hits it's first major climax that sheds light on what transpired. The rest of the story moves at a decent clip, doling out just enough tasty revelations to keep you intrigued as to where this is all going. I do feel like the script is a bit too wordy in the sense it gets weighed down by Madion's thoughts. He mentally chews over every interaction he has, judging how trustworthy he finds each new droplet of information he gets from other characters, and I do think this tendency could have been safely reduced without losing much. Over all, I enjoyed my time with Jester/King and felt the plot came together well enough to justify the slow beginning and the pacing issues caused by too much exposition, but I can't really see myself returning to this one to try to get a different character ending.

A very good VN with an interesting plot.
It was well written and even though the impact of your decisions was limited, it felt like you could make the story flow to the direction you wanted
Thrilling story, great supporting cast, and an amazingly complex protagonist. I do want to add, I wish the flowchart was easier to navigate when redoing decisions and the skip speed were faster. Those are very negligible in the grand scheme of game, though! Completely recommend to all mystery VN lovers.
It is a very interesting visuell novel. Many unexpected things, with demons, love and hate.... and what you need. The gamedesign is nice to cut through already played parts, so it dosen´t stretch to much and stays interesting. Please stay away if you can´t see blood, violence and such, be aware.
???
I played a ton of visual novels with flashy art, lux UI, and stylish writing... and no amount of this razzle-dazzle makes an excuse for lacking in storyline. This one is kinda the other way around. I enjoyed it simply cus it has this one, the most important thing in focus. Yes, the art here is not very polished, the sound/voiceover is amateurish, and the writing is poorly edited. The story is simple and linear, even corny at times. The two female romance options may feel like an afterthought, but I was interested only in Calix anyway. And I enjoyed it for what it was. Is this a guilty pleasure? Just try for yourself, I dunno.
Truly a fantastic game. I wish Rolling Crown would make more Male protag games, as it seems like this is the only one they've made as of writing. It may have been a while since I last played the game but I assure you that it's worth your time to play it, if your interested in it. I'll update my review... if I remember to, after I play the game again.
