Alright I'm going to be frank here. I love the art and this game had a lot of potential, but I'm sadly disappointed. This game seems to be untested by a third party, as I've found multiple bugs witnin the first 10 minutes of gameplay. The text is gawdy and unmeaningful, the enemies are unperdictable and hard to read sometimes, and the levels rely far too much on gimmicks that require you to contort your hand on the keyboard to pull off. On top of that it would start lagging really bad if there was more than a few things happening on screen. At first I thought maybe my pc was running hot or that something was up with the machine, after pulling up diagnostics the pc was fine. The game was struggling to run itself. overall I wouldn't call this a waste of time necessarily, it's free. if it were to cost any amount of currency I'd be getting a refund though. I'm just highly disappointed because growing up I always wanted to go to this academy of graphic design, and while I've grown out of it, it still sucks to see it's not all it's cracked up to be. I'm assuming this is a student project, but to get it on steam I would assume that this is a senior project or an upper level creation. I expected better from them.

its not good, it doesnt work. I get stuck in the fisrt part of the game because of a bug
I was willing to overlook a lot of the problems initially until the final areas and final boss of the game, and that pushed me into the negative [otherwise was going to say I was mixed, but I'm beyond being that fair at this point]. The art is great, the animation is solid. The m/k controls are really cumbersome, I will never understand a game that doesn't have a proper jump button. Up is not intuitive. Especially on a controller which is supported ingame despite it not saying it is on the store page it just works terribly for the fire power. Now, the game is fairly simple at times. However, once you hit the final portion of the levels and final boss they really over rely on the worst part of the game. The ground digging. And add in these annoying flying heads that follow you until the ends of the earth making the already iffy platforming sections difficult [while also being shot at by other things]. You can easily get tossed out of the level in the dig sections and the enemies hone in on you when THEY have a line of sight on you, so it's tons of trial and error and the final portion of the game has very long sections of these parts with 5-10 of these stupid things around. It's annoying. I didn't even finish the final boss. It's so broken. I'd get to the phase where you get your wind power back and always end up triggering sticky keys which sent me to my desktop and then I'd die before being able to get back into the game. I tried to swap to the controller for that part, but it didn't work for some reason for that specific power in the boss. And the controller is terrible for the fire as you have to move the cursor for a direction. The boss has about a 5 second animation every start time [if not longer] so it's tedious to retry. He's also super glitchy, his head will just fly off for no reason. The last straw was after getting the air power, on my final try as I was already fed up, he just decided to have his head fly upwards infinitely and I was just floating there until I died for some unknown reason because I couldn't see anything. The camera followed his head rather than remained on me. Sadly it's not worth playing through the frustrating aspects for the minor decent parts and potential.
This is by far the best sht I ever played from DigiPen students. Rarest among the rare gems because DigiPen can only leviate good stuff once in a blue moon and I bet it is all due to the kids' talents not the instructors, clearly. As always expected from DigiPen, there are little bugs here and there but nothing game breaking except quite literally only at the last boss. Its face collider is fcken broken on its last phase can cause your character to stuck around his head and they give you only one shot to hit him on his last phase because you can't land anywhere to reset the cycle so if your sweaty hands fckd up on the analog like mine did multiple times, it is game over for you. You also cannot skip the whole intro schabang making you miserably play over and over again, so I spent 20 minutes all thanks to the annoying bugs and was about to give up and come up with hatred here but hey these kids deserve better so I stopped myself and instead gave it a one last go and won. Not DigiPen, they are nowhere near the quality stuff such as Breda University can produce but the developer kids, I hope they continue their journies in this industry because they have potential. Especially the artists. As a fellow solo indie dev, I congratulate them and cannot thank enough of such art. Most programmers would agree that art is a hell lot more important than easily programming game objects and mechanics. Especially at this day and age with gazillions of different AI assistants. Math and physics is easy but art is talent. This type of art is amazing and my personal favorite along with hi-bit modern pixel for this genre. They also nailed the color palette so clear winner on color theory here. It is always a pleasure for me to see 2D hand-painted platformers with interesting mechanics to play with. Music was pretty darn good too. Parallax effect was also on point. It wasn't screaming to your face but was there enough to give 2.5D vibes. I wish them great success in their careers. Edit: Oh lastly, it says controllers aren't supported but that's a BS they work. However, there is a noticable input latency regardless of your pick of KBM or controller. Have fun!
