JankBrain

There is a very high probability that if you liked Epic Dumpster Bear, you will enjoy this as well. I'm enjoying it very much. It's too early to tell if Jank Brain is ultimately a BETTER character. The jury is out. Simple platforming goodness.

Update: As of 2/7/2021, JankBrain was updated with a new core gameplay mechanic that significantly increases the fun, imo. Now, collecting the plentiful vitamins throughout each level charges up a boost meter. It only takes four vitamins to charge it to max, but the boost can be used even with only one charge. It behaves in the same way as Dumpster Bear 2's boost, allowing you to launch yourself in any direction and also attack through enemies and damaging obstacles (apart from one-hit kill obstacles). Depending on the charge level, you'll get a varying degree of distance from the boost. It makes the speedrun medals much easier, but the potential for competitive speedrunning is now huge, and it's more fun to play casually as well. In addition, two new save files have been added which allow you to play through select levels with the shotgun powerup. This powerup is delightfully OP because of the ability to use its knockback to jump infinitely and blast yourself forward with ridiculously high speed. --- Original review: It's your standard run and jump and double jump and wall jump, with a gun, platformer! Occasionally there are minecart levels or jetpack levels. Generally though, it's a medium-paced platformer where you shoot enemies and try not to get shot or fall in pits yourself. Each stage has three hidden silver bars, which are used to unlock bonus stages. There are also a handful of secret exits, which also lead to extra levels, and some other extra levels that can be unlocked by using the game's common in-game collectible vitamins. Boss stages exist. You have two hit points and no checkpoints, which means you're gonna die if you don't tread carefully. If it's too hard, you can spend your vitamins to make an attempt with one extra hit point. Or, once you get good, you can race through the levels to earn speedrun medals and save your fastest times. (Record a video and submit it to the leaderboard on speedrun.com!) The soundtrack is an original composition by Mike Pettry and it freakin' rocks. This guy needs to compose for the next Sonic game, honestly! There are silly cutscenes to tell the enthralling backstory of JankBrain, who was one of the bosses in Epic Dumpster Bear 2. In summary: It's better than you think it is!

Die Grafik hat mir am Anfang gar nicht gefallen, aber langsam finde ich sie gar nicht mehr so schlimm. Dafür ist die Steuerung erste Sahne und butterweich (nur mit dem Wandsprung tue ich mich etwas schwer). Das Spiel hat mich positiv sehr überrascht. Solid fun so far. Extremely good music. There is a brain shotgun.
