I had a fun time with it. Just listened to some youtube videos and drove. Really relaxing. I do wish there was more to do after u reach the end.

Strange one... I liked my time with it, first of all. I can't readily recommend this to "other players" broadly, but it might still be for you. There's something here. A really special sense of making a long trip inside an unreliable creature, and caring for it in return for it caring for you. I made the whole trip back and forth twice despite all the jank because of that "something". But, From what I understand, the publisher pushed the dev to rush this out before it was really fully cooked. And it's really, really undercooked; on your way through, you will encounter lots and lots of jank. You can fall through the world, the car jack can and will get stuck in a weird state, opening the door against a wall will catapult your car into the air. The final letter may or may not actually appear (it hasn't for me on two visits to the final location), which really takes the wind out of the sails of the story. Sometimes, a segment of the road will just not match up to where the previous one ends at all, walling you off and giving you absolutely no way to move forward whatsoever. If you think this is for you, you might want to check out "JaLoader", which (in addition to loading mods for Jalopy) fixes some bugs and gives you access to console commands for addressing some of the worse jank that remains. There's a freecam command, a teleport-the-car-to-me and a teleport-me-to-the-car command, and so on and so forth. If this all sounds like a lot, and you have absolutely no connection or interest to the setting of the Mauerfall-era eastern bloc, there's also Pacific Drive.

Traveling from place to place in a beat up car while constantly dealing with breakdowns and small problems somehow makes the journey feel a lot more personal and memorable. It’s slow paced in a good way, and the game does a great job of making even ordinary road trips feel like an adventure.

Jalopy is an amazing game to say the least, although the game is ridden with bugs, especially on the Xbox One edition of the game. The graphical quality and lighting can be improved, the game hasn't received an update in several years, and the ending is quite abrupt, with Uncle Lutfi just disappearing from the game, a better ending would be appreciated. Overall, Jalopy is a fun and enjoyable game, with tons of replay value.
