An awesome classic game. Been playing it for years. It can be frustrating but then if it wasn't, it would be easy, and I wouldn't keep playing it.
💥 Jagged Alliance 1: Gold Edition - Strategy, Mercenaries, and a Whole Lot of Explosions Jagged Alliance 1: Gold Edition is a classic, tactical RPG where you recruit mercenaries, take on strategic missions, and try not to get your team wiped out in a hail of gunfire. The game mixes turn-based combat, deep strategy, and a bit of that good old-fashioned mercenary chaos. Think XCOM, but with a lot more personality and a lot more explosions. Pros: * Tactical Combat at Its Best: The real-time-with-pause combat is satisfying and requires careful planning. Positioning, line of sight, and ammo management are key one bad move can lead to a deadly firefight. * Mercenary Management: You can hire, fire, and micromanage a crew of mercenaries, each with their own quirks, skills, and hilarious voice lines. It’s like babysitting, but with guns. * Classic Charm: The graphics are dated, but the game oozes that old-school charm if you like retro games, it’s a nostalgic goldmine. * Challenging Gameplay: It’s hard, but in a good way. Every mission feels like it could go sideways, and there’s a real sense of accomplishment when you survive. (You’ll probably need to save scum a few times, though.) Cons: * Dated Graphics: Let’s not sugarcoat it this game looks old. If you can’t handle some pixelated faces and awkward animations, you might want to look elsewhere. * Clunky Interface: The UI feels a bit like it was designed for a different time. It takes a while to get used to all the menus, and micromanaging can get a bit tedious. * Tough Learning Curve: The difficulty can be brutal, especially for newcomers. You’ll need patience, strategic thinking, and maybe a little luck to make it through without losing half your mercs. * Story is Basic: The plot is pretty straightforward take back a country from bad guys. It’s not going to win any awards, but it gets the job done. Verdict: Jagged Alliance 1: Gold Edition is a tough, tactical gem that still holds up if you’re into deep, old-school strategy games. It’s got personality, challenge, and enough mercenary banter to keep things fun. The dated graphics and clunky interface might turn some away, but for strategy enthusiasts or retro gamers, it’s worth the effort. Just prepare for some frustration.. and the occasional explosive death.
I bought this game when it came out but doubt that I will replay it.
First playthrough review time. I got this game for free, and Jagged Alliance Gold is an old classic. It’s perfect for anyone interested in Turn-Based Strategy titles. The design and features in Jagged Alliance Gold are well thought out. The game includes elements like unit exhaustion, explosives, and mercenaries with unique personalities, strengths, and weaknesses. These mercenaries also speak up with their opinions, which adds an extra layer of depth to the gameplay. In conclusion, Jagged Alliance Gold offers a good gameplay and a bit challenging experience with nice attention to detail.
Old but gold - and runs on DOSBOX.
Classic. True GOAT game in its genre

Old graphics that only provide minimal visual aid and a little bit of nostalgia and clunky interface due to hardware limitations of the time makes the learning curve even tougher. Therefore the only thing that could make me try to keep playing this is the story, that is also basic af.
