Jaden Williams' The Stalking Stairs

Is it worth $5, short answer is no. I was entertained playing this game don't get me wrong but it kinda just felt like watching a Jaden Williams video and the indie style is pretty below average to what is seen on Itch.io for free. If the interactions even with the "goth girl" who literally looks alt based on if you tell her the truth you get an achievement that says "simp" which is just strange.

This is an amazingly fun game, with excellent voice actors (NO AI crap here) and some funny jokes to polish everything off perfectly. Great job Jaden Williams on making your first game. I imagine this is the first game being used to test the art direction, voice acting, gameplay mechanics and sound design, given how short it is, but these four aspects are very well executed – thank you

So, the only reason why I got this game in the first place was because I saw Jaden's YouTube video about it going viral. So, I decided to support and try it out myself. Hell, all these Youtubers must know what they're talking about, right? Yet I must admit, I went into this experience blindly and without much expectation. I left it a little disappointed and frustrated, as the gamers gave me a very different idea on what this game will be like. The bonus points: 1. The game has a very recognizable old retro style that I enjoy. Games like these are fun to play because they remind me of old console games. 2. The voice acting of certain characters (not all) is phenomenal and very immersive. Yet, unfortunately, my praise ends here and criticism begins. One of the main problems of the game is the cheep jumpscare mechanic it does, with loud noises and sudden characters popping up to scare you. Yes, the place is claustrophobic enough that anything that pops up makes you jump from your seat, no rocket science needed there. It's a little redundant. Pair it up with a loud noise that also makes you jump up very suddenly and you have a very base mechanic to go off on. The sequence with the killer also was very repetitive and super unforgiving, as I found myself circling around the rooms like an idiot just to get killed so many times I lost track and got overwhelmed. Hell, I had to rage quit until I returned back and managed to understand the killers pattern a little better. Yet even that wasn't helpful enough. The story was- well, to me personally, a little unfinished? Maybe that is the point of it, that there will be a continuation where more answers come and you get to explore the story further. Yet for now it felt a little empty? If this was an introduction, sure. Yet it does leave you itching for more, since a lot of it felt a bit flat and unanswered. All in all, it wasn't a bad game by any means. Was it as revolutionary as the youtubers made it out to be? I wouldn't exactly say so. It was a more frustrating experience, yet I wouldn't tell people *not* to play and experience it.

WHAT a game, like its one the best horror games out on the market, the best thing apart from its graphics was the voice acting.. A MUST PLAY, LOVE YOU Jaiden Williams(Jegg)
