This game is absolutely adorable AND fun! The story and mechanics are cute and creative. I also love the music and visuals. Thank you to the Game Grumps for introducing me to this wonderful experience! <3
Size fetishists, let's all play this game. Overall, all the characters were charming and the best. The gameplay was also in my favorite genre, and I managed to get the gold croissant on all stages. Personally, I would have liked the option to adjust the BGM and SE settings not just on/off, but with a percentage scale from 0% to 100%. Additionally, I would have liked a feature to zoom out the camera during investigations. There were some bosses where I wanted a wider field of view, so implementing this feature would have been appreciated.
+ Good twist on the service genre + Each playable character feels unique - Terrible voice acting - Awful action segments (3 periodic bosses followed by a boss rush of 5 levels at the end, 1 "exploration" level) - Clunky UI and menus It's a real shame because I actually find the core game of serving customers to be very satisfying. I wish that, instead of adding a bunch of boss levels with very clunky controls, they had continued to flesh out the main room service. Add more tables and/or customer types. By the end, you only have: normal, shy, child, busy, professor, and angry. I think of something like Plants vs Zombies 1 that launched with 22 standard zombies (not counting bosses, summons, or minigames). I can forgive the poor voice acting because you can turn it off (I think they probably gave voice roles to donors), but the menus are slow and require you to back out to the main menu to change options. No accessibility stuff, no volume sliders, just on/off. You can skip start and end of level cutscenes, but not cutscenes in the middle of boss battles. A general lack of polish. Developer has stated that have moved on to their next project and aren't interested in improving it. Too bad. For what it it's a hard ask at $12.
A friend bought this for for some reason and i hate it. just like the time they bought me sex with Hitler 3D like why?
It's On The Mouse! You run a cafe while playing as one of 4 characters, each with their own quirk and playstyle, and running the business isn't easy; challenges appear as you work, sometimes having their own unique encounter where instead of running the cafe, you deter pesky intruders, sometimes on their own turf! Your perfomance is rated based on the coins you get from customers, better service = higher value coins when you finish, you get up to 3 croissants: Bronze, Silver and Gold. Silver and Gold croissants unlock additional color palettes for the characters and extra, completely different gamemodes for you to try your hand at. This is all wrapped up with a story that is fully voiced, featuring people you may already know.. On any sale, this game is worth your coins and your gold croissants. Looking forward to more games by these guys
haha it's called on the mouse because it's like on the house but you're a mouse I love that
It’s On The Mouse is definitely different from other games, but it keeps you entertained! From every level giving you new challenges, and rewards you by giving you new content for the game. I definitely recommend to give this game a try, and stick with it! Have a great shift, fellow mouse!
Yeah theres size stuff, but the native coded ant ppl stuff gets weird.
It's On The Mouse is a fun take on the restaurant running game genre. Perhaps you always wondered how Ratatouille was able to run a French kitchen as a rat and always wished to give it a shot yourself? This game allows for that. Lets break down the review into categories:

Presentation
Characters/Story
Gameplay
Final Thoughts
Presentation This game is an indie game created with a small team. Its quite obvious that the models and environments are rough, the voice acting is a very mixed bag, and the UI is basic. For what it is the presentation is workable. This is a cute anime style game with cute enough characters and environments. You can still tell what things are supposed to be and clearly identify them from a distance. Some of the voice acting is difficult to listen to, but other times its quite good. In my opinion this is forgivable from non-professionals. There are very popular games out there worse in all of these mentioned categories. Characters/Story This game is like watching a comedy anime in many regards. Magic is established early on and often "things just happen." The characters and plot are simple and don't take themselves seriously which allows this writing style to work. The mouse makes cheese puns, the robot is obsessed with beans, and characters often find themselves reversing roles in regards to who is the big or small one for comedic results. All of the levels are arranged in sets of 4 to 6 and each set has its own "storyline." You could consider each set a mini arc of an anime and it works well. The length of the game hinders this heavily however as many characters, especially towards the end, are not given enough introduction time so you care little for them. The main cast gets more than enough screen time to become endearing though and you will be spending the entire runtime with them anyway. Gameplay For a casual player the main story of this game is quite fun. The core game loop of the cafe is great at making you feel like a tiny maid struggling to keep all your customers happy. All while the time limits and mechanics are simple enough to not get overwhelming. This is an easy game to complete not counting the final cafe level, which is a brutal difficulty spike with a story based excuse. Certainly a challenge to truly show your mastery of the mechanics and overcome extreme adversity (which fits with the theme of the game but might not be fun for everyone). Each of the four characters has their own unique and fun movement mechanics. The flying fairy seems like they would break the game but its not true flight, more like infinite jumps, which balances them mostly. There is a very long level around the middle section that turns the game into a 3D platformer. Thankfully it has a checkpoint which is needed. Bosses with multiple phases also have an option to retry from the halfway point. Nice! If you are trying to get gold rank on every shift however this game can and will test your patience. A couple specific levels and especially the bosses will cause you to heat up like ball of beans shot out of a soup cannon. This major issues here lie in the fact that bosses just go on too long because of animations and that boss mechanics are not explained or are intuitive at all. Its not even that the bosses are hard, they are in fact simple, but you are often left wondering what to do in the fight to damage them. There is a boss guide here on steam in the community tab. Read that if you get stuck and you'll find that the bosses can be quite fun if you know what you're supposed to be doing. This is no excuse for the information not being available in game though. The final level/boss is obscenely long. I understand what the developers were trying to do with it but its too much. I'm unsure if it has a fail state but its easy enough to complete (if you have the patience). There is only good news from the "Extras" section of the game. In there you will find a cute gallery of characters/items like the trophy gallery of Smash Bro's fame. But more importantly there is a minigame involving you running around a maze in first person like a mouse. There are three separate modes including: finding cheese, collecting bells while avoiding being caught by enemies, and a FPS complete with bosses. Honestly this mode alone could have been sold as a stand alone game and similar offerings here on steam are such. Its fun, its engaging, and its a complete bonus on top of the main game. Final Thoughts The time has come to address the elephant in the room. While innocent and silly, the amount of times characters swap around sizes, the drastic sizes they change to, and a lot of the written dialogue hints that this game might have a specific audience in mind. You know what? Its completely fine. Good for them actually! Nothing inappropriate ever happens or is said and most people probably won't even notice these undertones. So if you don't know what I'm talking about: case in point. Now do all the flaws with presentation and gameplay balance out with the fun and charm put into this game? I say YES! Its rough I'm not gunna lie, but you've paid more for less. Its apparent the creators of this game put their heart in and it shows. If you don't feel its worth full price wait for it to go on sale and you'll surely get your money's worth. A movie ticket in some places can cost over $15 and lasts a couple hours. This game gives you at least 8 to 10 hours of goofy anime inspired antics. Sometimes servicing with a smile can soften your sullen soul.
