Saw this as an interesting early access title a few years back and finally tried it and ... Imagine a cross between Skyrim's control system and Morrowind's wild swamp/seaside setting with weird crabs (seriously, what are those enemies XD) and whatnot attacking you, but with nearly no NPC interactions. You find NPCs while moving around the island, but all they do is join you after a few lines of dialog and then just follow you - you're supposed to find other NPCs and some kind of safe spot, but if an abandoned building isn't safe enough I don't know what is. XD I stopped playing after half an hour because ... What in the name of pie is that combat? O.o Seriously, either you don't even see the swings or you do and they feel off and way to fast, it's like watching something move so fast there should be blur, but there isn't one and there's no register that you hit something other than its HP going down a bit. Especially in first person, this is not combat, this is a wonky mess that's at least self-conscious enough to be brief per encounter. Just no. Another area where the game is just terrible is the zoom, I have no idea how to set it right, though I can view more behind the character with the mouse wheel, but that won't help with the character not being in the center of the screen - it feels like they're off to the left a good bit and that bugs me - and the initial zoom is WAY too close. And the crosshair to pick up items is just too weird to really be useable, two lines that you'll need to persuade quite a bit to point to what you want to interact with, it should be seamless, but it absolutely isn't. Sometimes the new window that is 1 redicioulsy large and 2 open in the options instead of a normal drop-down menu, will move around instead of accepting the prompt to change the option it is meant to change - great first impression to have to Alt Tab out of the game because it's stuck in the options menu and the loading times are suspiciously long, but at least my components don't overheat. It's jarring to have a summoned creature just appear and disappear with no visual cue like at least some light or something to signal the change before it happens. The things the game does right are: + heavier armor actually feels heavier and you move slower as a result + a rusty sword actually looks dirty and rusty in places + among humans and dwarves, there is a monkey and an anthro cat race and animal races are always a bonus (if not very customizable as a playable character) + I love lockpick minigame: you can repeat as many times you need to and all it takes is predicting if an oval trigger will stop in the green area, very easy to do and not tedious as in some other games. + the druid archetype you can pick feels solid and the first spell I got was to summon a wolf - admittedly it did more of jump weirdly jumping at the enemy and somehow damaging it than anything that resembles wolf attacks XD, but hey it's a wolf, so that's a plus (I haven't tested other class archetypes, I can't judge them.) The game as a whole has potential to become good with lots more time in the oven, but currently has way too little to show for its price tag, at half price maybe, but at this rate, no: go for something that feels like an actual polished game instead. This feels like a beta, playable tech demo with no clear goal about development, let alone gameplay.
I really tried to like this game, but man the bugs and the constant freezes makes it unplayable.
This actually looks like it's going to be a lot of run. Unluckily, I won't be able to participate. The lockpicking mechanics are purely twitch and at my age, that is long gone. After 10 minutes I was only able to get one cylinder down and of course it completely resets every time you miss. The target audience seems to be console/controller, but mechanics like that gatekeep people with slower reactions times. I'll check again when it goes final, but right now it's a wasted $20 for me.
Listen, I know you, you’re like me. You’re a furry who bought the game because he saw the cool wolf people. Don’t do it. They are lying. This game is unplayable. And I don’t mean Skyroom unplayable, I mean Morrowind unplayable. Think Morrowind with none of the fun. Like…. It’s bad… it’s really bad. all of the trailers for this game are obviously not base game. You have to mod the ♥♥♥♥ out of this game if you want it to look like that, and I don’t even know if there are mods for this game. I’m pretty sure they’re just using false advertising. on top of that the game hasn’t been updated in quite a while. So while I can hold out hope that this game will be finished I doubt it will. I know you’re looking at the Wolf people and thinking “oh it’ll be worth it.” No it won’t. I’m sorry but it’s just not going to be worth it. It’s not good. Go play Skyrim and add furries in.
Very interesting game. As many have stated, this game is indeed a very Elder Scrolls style game. The game is still very rough around the edges, the graphics leaves a lot to be desired, the combat is kinda clunky. If you can endure looking at graphics similar to games like Kenshi you shouldn't have much of a problem with Isle of Adalar. Overall would i recommend this game? If you dont mind the jank and the potato graphics then yes, if not then wait until the game is fully finished.

unplayable. the tutorial alone is just 3 NPCs that pin you down to get ganked by mobs that you can only do a sliver of damage too. terrible.
Games is a T total mess currently, don't waste your time.
