Don´t buy this game, it has been abandoned by the developer. 0/10
Haven't seen any updates for awhile, feels like the devs abandoned it. do not buy. the only thing that will save it now is the modding community. [update] while i realize ive been corrected. the combat is a bit off. obviously needs work but has potential. when that potential is realized i will change my review.
It had potential, however, knowing it's been abandoned is frustrating. and thank you steam for being of no help what so ever with a game that is unplayable!!!!!! Don't waist your money on this game.
It sucks that I have to give this game such a negative review because I was holding out hope for Isles of Adalar, but the truth is, is there's nothing here. Zilch. And what IS there is not very good and flat out broken, even the introductory tutorial island they have is woefully unfinished with a broken questline and tons of dodgy geometry. The dungeons are completely borked as you cannot save your game in them nor can you leave when you enter - it's an absolute shambles even a year after its initial early access release. This hurts to write this review because the base of an excellent game IS here! Fully co-op supported, indie Elder Scrolls type of game with a proper built-in game editor? That sounds perfect for me and if this game was being worked on full time then I can see tons of improvements being made - however since the developer is working on the game part time and the asking price is incredibly steep I simply cannot recommend Isles of Adalar whatsoever especially when the updates are so glacial it will likely never get finished or even get past this initial starting point. If this was a completely free and open source game where anyone can work on it and contribute similarly to games like Veloren and Sauerbraten, then I can see this really taking off in making lots of progress and gaining a decent following. But as it is now it's incredibly stagnant. I might continue to play around with the game editor and make a small little questline to get a little more out of Isles of Adalar as a creative tool rather than a game since it seems there is a lot to play with but considering how unintuitive and buggy that is, I'm unsure if I'll even stick with that. There IS potential here for an absolutely amazing game but there's no way around it, this game is still nowhere near ready for release. Honestly if the devs are just gonna work on this part time then they should never have released it on Steam to begin with, rather they should have delayed it for several more years or even a full decade to get it to an acceptable, playable and enjoyable state where there's actually something to properly sink your teeth into. Because right now it's a load of broken nothing.
abandoned
Another abandoned Indie game... I don't know why I bother trying to support Indie devs any more.
Abandonware, don't buy. such a huge potential is sadly lost
Another abandon Indie game. This will be the last Early Access Game I'll ever buy.
dev abandoned
!!!!!PLEASE READ!!!!!! I have been playing RPGS almost all my life. from KOTOR on the original xbox to morrowind oblivion, any rpg i can get my hand on i have at least 100s of hours in and when i say this is one of the worst i have encountered its unfortunate. This game definitely has potential if the game devs seemed to ever start to care about it. This is the first time ive ever had to immediately stop playing to make sure i could go get a refund for 20$ worth of 2001 2d graphics and unplayable game mechanics. Lock on mechanic does not work properly and will just rapidly rotate your camera, you cannot move and attack and dont even think of using power attacks, if you want to use magic you do not get any starter spells accept summon wolf forcing you to play melee anyways, which would be more than fine if your stamina didn't regen slower then paint dries. Over all with about an hour of messing around the only positive i have to say is the dialog mechanics are interesting but overall id say the game is currently in an unplayable state. Personally i feel that a game that has been in early access since October of 2020 over 3 years ago and still is this crap should not be anything other than F2P. Game devs need to wake up and realize the era of rpgs there in.
