About

While Shelly "Bombshell" Harrison earned her codename defusing bombs for the Global Defense Force, when evil transhumanist mastermind Dr. Jadus Heskel unleashes the members of his cybernetic cult onto the streets of Neo D.C., she knows it's time to start causing explosions instead of preventing them.
Her quest to slay Heskel leaves a trail of carnage throughout huge, multi-path levels filled with gigantic explosions, more secret areas than we can count, and inhuman foes behind every corner. There's no regenerating health here; stop taking cover and start running and gunning.
Shelly's crusade to take down Heskel's army will see her leave destruction in her wake with a wide arsenal of weapons, complete with alternate fire modes and different ammo types. Her signature revolver, the tri-barreled Loverboy, brings enemies pain and players pleasure with both single shots and Old West-style hammer fanning action. Who needs a regular shotgun when you can load buckshot into your grenade launcher? Violent, over-the-top Bowling Bombs rip enemies apart with ease.
Ion Fury laughs at the idea of mandatory checkpoints and straight paths through shooting galleries. But, just because this is a true old-school first-person shooter doesn't mean we've ignored all the good new stuff the last two decades have brought. Headshots? Hell yeah. More physics and interactivity? You betcha. Widescreen, controller support, and auto saves? 3D Realms and Voidpoint have taken the best of both worlds and cooked it all into a bloody stew.

Okay so I have finally finished this game, underwhelming as it was, there are positives and negatives The negatives : - You get stuck in objects -- A LOT causing you to lose health and die sometimes -- most of the weapons didn't feel punchy or good to use -- the enemy design is the most bland of most games I have played in my entire life fits mostly to solo devs projects (I mean cultist soldier type enemies by color... REALLY? doom had more interesting enemy variety in 1993) -- SECRETS TOO MANYYYYY GOSH DARN SERECTS felt more like a treasure hunt game than an FPS. I feel like it took a lot of enjoyment to search for secrets rather than enjoy the gun play as for the positives, I would list he level design and music which were actually pretty good (most levels at least)

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,402 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

its a great shooter with some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ music, but i felt like some of the levels drag on too much
Is this game good? Yes! Is this game great? No. I REALLY wish I liked this game. In theory this is straight up my alley. Guns feel good to shoot. Music is good. Love the look of the game. Levels are mostly good. So why do I not recommend the game? I f*cking hate the enemy roster of this game. The way the enemies are designed just makes the experience so frustrating. I played on Ultra Viscera difficulty and the game was pretty challenging. I don't mind a challenge but, enemy design just did not work for me.
This is a must play for those who love Build Engine games. It's a must play for fans of retro shooters. It's a must play in general.
Ion Fury, developed by Voidpoint, LLC and published by 3D Realms, is a modern shooter that proudly carries the DNA of 1990s first-person action, reviving the chaos and style of an era when fast reflexes and exploration ruled the genre. Built using the legendary Build Engine, the same technology that powered Duke Nukem 3D and Shadow Warrior, it delivers an experience that feels both authentically retro and technically refined. Rather than imitating nostalgia for the sake of it, Ion Fury embodies it—offering a game that feels like a natural evolution of the classics that inspired it. It’s a return to a time when shooting felt tactile, movement was king, and levels were sprawling labyrinths filled with secrets, traps, and an endless stream of enemies to obliterate. Set in the neon-soaked city of Neo D.C., the game follows Shelly “Bombshell” Harrison, a foul-mouthed, confident antihero who charges into battle against an army of cybernetic cultists led by the deranged scientist Dr. Jadus Heskel. The story is intentionally light, serving primarily as a backdrop for the carnage, but its presentation is full of personality. Through quips, one-liners, and environmental storytelling, Shelly becomes a charismatic successor to the wisecracking heroes of the 90s. Her voice, delivered with attitude and wit, gives the game its pulse—she’s equal parts soldier and rockstar, blasting through enemy lines with a grin and a shotgun. It’s a perfect thematic fit for a game that celebrates the irreverence and energy of the shooters that shaped a generation. The gameplay is a relentless blend of speed, precision, and fluidity. Ion Fury’s combat feels immediate and satisfying, with tight controls that make strafing, dodging, and headshotting enemies second nature. There’s no cover system, no regenerating health, and no hand-holding—just raw movement and mechanical skill. Health and armor pickups are scattered throughout levels, making every corner worth exploring, while the absence of modern assists reinforces a constant sense of danger. Weapons have distinct roles and alternate fire modes that expand tactical possibilities. The Loverboy revolver allows for precision shots or quick-fire sprays, the Disperser shotgun hits with brutal impact, and the unique Bowling Bombs—explosive projectiles that roll along the ground—add a touch of gleeful chaos to encounters. Each weapon feels handcrafted to provide variety and punch, ensuring that every firefight is dynamic and gratifying. The result is gameplay that captures the essence of old-school design: fast, challenging, and endlessly replayable. The level design is where Ion Fury truly shines. Each area is a complex network of interconnected paths, secret rooms, verticality, and clever environmental cues. Unlike many modern shooters that funnel players through linear corridors, Ion Fury encourages exploration and rewards curiosity. Every stage is a puzzle box—full of hidden passages, alternate routes, and visual details that make backtracking both engaging and rewarding. The environments themselves are richly designed, blending cyberpunk aesthetics with grimy urban decay. Neon lights flicker against rain-slick streets, crumbling labs hum with electricity, and industrial complexes echo with metallic groans. Even within the constraints of the Build Engine, the game achieves a striking atmosphere that bridges nostalgia with artistry. The attention to texture, lighting, and layout demonstrates a deep understanding of what made 90s shooters memorable—not just action, but a sense of place. Sound and music elevate the experience further. The gunfire reverberates with power, explosions shake the speakers, and enemies scream with exaggerated menace. The soundtrack, a pulse of electronic rock and industrial rhythms, keeps the adrenaline flowing without overwhelming the atmosphere. It feels handcrafted for every firefight, changing pace as tension rises and falls. The combination of responsive audio cues and the game’s visual design creates an immersive rhythm that constantly propels the player forward. The voice acting, especially Shelly’s quips, adds humor and charm, striking a tone that’s rebellious and self-aware without becoming forced or grating. The soundscape alone cements Ion Fury’s place as both homage and evolution—a love letter that speaks in its own voice. Despite its many triumphs, Ion Fury is not without flaws. Some boss fights lack variety and rely heavily on overwhelming firepower rather than unique mechanics. The difficulty curve can occasionally spike, especially in later stages, where enemies flood tight corridors and leave little room for maneuvering. While the Build Engine’s technical limitations are part of its nostalgic charm, they also mean the visuals—though lovingly detailed—may not appeal to players seeking cutting-edge fidelity. Yet these issues are minor compared to the sheer craftsmanship behind the design. Ion Fury is unapologetically old-school, and that includes its imperfections; it’s a game that celebrates its rough edges because they are part of what gives it authenticity. The campaign offers a substantial experience, with levels that can easily take hours to complete depending on how much time one spends uncovering hidden areas. It’s the kind of game that invites players to master it—to learn every shortcut, memorize every secret, and replay levels just to see how efficiently they can tear through them. The pacing is strong, balancing intense firefights with exploration and environmental storytelling. There’s a sense of momentum from start to finish that few shooters manage to sustain, and it never feels padded or artificially prolonged. For fans of classic first-person shooters, Ion Fury captures the exact essence of what made the genre’s early years so exhilarating while still adding enough modern finesse to feel fresh. Ultimately, Ion Fury succeeds not only as a revival of a bygone era but as a fully realized shooter that stands on its own. It’s an unapologetic throwback that remembers what made games like Duke Nukem 3D, Blood, and Shadow Warrior timeless, while refining their formulas for a new generation. It’s not about cinematic storytelling or photo-realistic worlds; it’s about speed, skill, and the satisfaction of mastering an environment designed to test and reward the player’s instincts. Every explosion, every secret room, and every perfectly timed headshot speaks to a design philosophy rooted in pure fun. For anyone who misses the era when shooters were loud, colorful, and unrelenting, Ion Fury isn’t just nostalgia—it’s proof that the old ways still work beautifully when done right. Rating: 9/10
This would be a good game if they didn't put transphobic ♥♥♥♥ in it. I had no idea they did that until today
enemy visibilty is dog. Don't even know what im getting hit by half the time.
