Interstellar Sentinel is an action-packed shoot'em up that takes you on a sci-fi fantasy journey through legions of monsters, demons, and cosmic mind-ripping entities.
I grew up playing games like Life Force on the Nes (Salamander outside of the US), Gradius, R-Type, Super Aleste, Einhander, Ikaruga, and more. Interstellar Sentinel features tight controls, digital & analog stick (PlayStation & Xbox controllers verified), stylized beautiful art with lite anime inspiration, and a rewarding experience that becomes more challenging as your skills grow.
Also known as being "in the zone," this mental state refers to a player who is fully immersed and intensely focused on a video game. In this state, the player experiences a seamless and effortless gameplay experience, losing track of time and achieving peak performance. It is characterized by a perfect balance between the player's skills and the game's challenges, resulting in a deeply satisfying and enjoyable gaming experience.
Monster Trophy Enemy
A hand-crafted dynamic difficulty system. This system provides gameplay depth, layering, and secrets. The more your skills with piloting and weapon systems, the more the game changes to provide you with new experiences, including hidden miniboss challenges across the levels.
This game will ignite your senses from the very first moment. Excitement will course through your veins as legions of demonic entities swarm towards you, your fingers will dance on the controller, flight maneuvering with precision and speed. The intense action, visually stunning graphics, and immersive sound effects will keep you at the edge of your seat, fully engaged in fast-paced battles.
Your Gun Portals are a powerhouse of deadly weapons designed to keep the core game loop changing and challenging with never-before-seen weapons in a shmup. Over 55+ weapons are at your fingertips; as you collect weapon power-ups during intense battles, you'll experience a surge of empowerment. The feeling of turning the tables on hordes of enemies with a barrage of laser beams and missiles is simply euphoric, making you feel like an unstoppable force. Experience the unique flow of weapon cycling and adaptability to become a master of battle rhythms.
Mesmerizing environments that will draw you into its sci-fi fantasy universe. From giant kaiju bosses in cosmic landscapes to undead guardian dragons, each level is intricately designed to create an immersive experience. The seamless integration of music and sound effects adds another layer of immersion, making you feel like you're part of an epic battle opera.
Amidst the chaos of intergalactic battles, you'll discover moments of zen-like focus. As you dodge incoming projectiles and navigate through tight spaces, you'll enter a flow state where your mind and body become entirely absorbed in the gameplay. This meditative quality allows you to momentarily escape the pressures of daily life, providing a welcome respite and a chance to recharge. I bet you never thought of a shoot'em up in this way.
Earworm Original Soundtrack: Legendary original composed soundtrack from the brilliant mind of Chris Huelsbeck (The Great Giana Sisters, Turrican series, Tiny Thor, and more) comes a modern retro tribal drum synth chip tune feast for the ears that captures the struggle of heroic friends straightening out a twisted world
Rapid Shot, Power Shot, & Auto Shot spatial design provides spatial choice gameplay. How you position your DrBossKey relative to the weapon points allows for advanced piloting techniques to dish out damage. Advanced techniques like point blanking (think of it like sticking a shotgun in the face of an ugly demon and pulling the trigger for maximum impact), Power Shot alignment (charge up, 10x more powerful shot compared to the Rapid Shots, often with piercing), and Auto Shot utility (near field damage, homing missiles, plasma stasis damage fields) give a great mix of core gameplay choices.
Your wingsuit reactor core vulnerability point is the key to weaving through the bullet hell battlefield. Don't be intimidated by some of these bullet hell fields, they are not as hard to navigate with a modern player hit box as you would think.
Rapid Shot, Power Shot, Auto Shot Form a "Weapon Set"
19 Weapon Sets & over 55+ weapons to be mastered
Unique core loop gameplay experience with a high rate of weapon shifting that ties back into all key systems. Flow is in mastery of the Gun Portal weapon systems
Gun Portal weapon sets are designed to scale in utility and versatility, with your base weapons being powerful to avoid “Gradius syndrome,” where losing your weapons makes you want to start over because your basic weapons feel like throwing wet noodles at hungry demons
Weapon Downgrade system, you can dump your weapon sets to keep playing with your favorite weapons for the situation. Dumping weapons also keeps your chain combo multiplier going and offers great risk vs reward scenarios
Destroying enemies unleashes their soul bits, monster soul essence, which powers your super weapon
Generate temporary invulnerability field
Cancels enemy bullets to generate higher score rewards
Produces Monster Star Gems to collect for bonus points
Unleashes the stored-up monster soul essence, which in turn regains soul essence, which can let you chain supers together
A full super weapon bar is a terrible thing not to unleash on the very plague of demonic enemies that you harvested super weapon energy from
Part of being a badass flying hero is knowing that your suit can take a hit or two, sometimes even strategically (hint hint)
Screen clearing enemies and achieving high scores produces Monster Trophies. Monster Trophies spawn more challenging and unique enemies
Monster Trophy Medals are earned when defeating Monster Trophies, which in turn power up your Chain Combo meter
The Monster Trophy hint system gives you a sense of how much more there is behind the curtain of the universe
7 possible ranks from D to S+ tier ranks that drive dynamic challenges, minibosses, and may even unlock the secrets of the universe
A dynamic score system that factors in Chain Combos, Monster Trophy Medals, Boss Time Bonuses, rewards, Power-up, Surviving, and more that rewards players who are not traditional score chasers
Score transcends mere digits; your accumulated points serve as both additional lives and the path to advanced gameplay rewards like mini-bosses and the glowing admiration of your Twitch followers
The Chain Combo system starts when destroying enemies and you have to keep destroying enemies every 6 seconds before the chain combo meter ticks down to keep your high score going for maximum fun and prizes
Each level contains the pure joy and anxiety of surviving. Rule number one of Pacifist Mode: survive; rule number 2, see rule number 1
On completion, it provides higher-tier powerup weapon set drops
Gain an extra life when activating it
Gain a temporary core shield hit point
As your skills progress, your score is the key to measuring that progression. Chasing the one credit clear (no continue screens and beating the game), and S+ tier ranks is a goal worthy of your gamer mantel. Etch your initials into your Hall of Fame
Choose from 3 levels of difficulty: Casual, Normy, & Heroic
Play and practice at any level right from the start..., you can even peek up Santa's Chimney
Newbie pilot friendly
Progressively harder difficulty curve, challenges, bosses, secrets, and more
Your time is precious, and a game that can be completed in about an hour offers several unique benefits that cater to your lifestyle. Firstly, it provides a quick and fulfilling gaming experience for busy individuals who may not have the luxury of dedicating extended hours to gaming. The concise gameplay ensures you enjoy a complete adventure during short breaks or free moments. A tight replay loop means you can jump in see your skills improving, and decompress to allow the experience to absorb into your muscle memory
Two out of every three doctors agree that a shmup session a day will bring you joy
Find the secret in each level, test your piloting skills, and reap the rewards

Great horizontal side scroller shmup game created by Uplifting Goat LLC. with very cool Gothic visual style and fancy explosion particle effects. What actually amaze me a lot is when the game getting harder it harder, I don't actually feel overly stressed because when you die, it is not the end of the world, which to me as a casual shmup player is very friendly. Can't wait to see the sequel Interstellar Sentinel II!
I like it very much!! this was introduce to me by one of the game testers, its very entertaining. this game reminds me of those old school spaceship shooting game. give it a shot and you'll have fun.
Interstellar Sentinel has the magic of classic shmups while also trying out new things. As a fellow game developer, I'm impressed by its seamless blend of nostalgia and innovation. The gameplay, much like the old classics like Gradius and R-Type, is a testament to the genre's timeless appeal. The weapon diversity is just enormous and it will take a bit of trial and error to figure out what weapon branch to use to fit your playing preference, 55+ weapons is a lot, but also a lot of fun. The super weapon system is well integrated and rewards aggressive play. Watching enemies blow up in a crescendo of destruction never gets old. It's designed to be used often and not just saved for emergencies. Visually, the "Stylized semi-cartoony fantasy 2D" art combines fantasy and anime into its very own style, dropping players into a world of enigmatic demons and colossal boss battles. Having Chris Huelsbeck return to his roots of 8bit/16bit game soundtrack creations adds for me another level of authenticity to this shmup and its salute to the genre. Interstellar Sentinel isn't just a game; it's a love letter to the genre, a testament to the fusion of innovation and respect for tradition. As a developer, I tip my hat to the creators for crafting an experience that ignites the same fiery passion in players that fueled our love for shmups decades ago.
Interstellar Sentinel (IS) is a game that likes to do things on a grand scale. Right from the off you're treated to a Stellar (pun intended) title screen with one of the huge creatures in the game occupying it. In fact it takes about 3 screens of scrolling to convey it properly! This descends through a starfield, then showing the player, before finally ending on a planet rise much like the intro to the original Star Wars. Adding much to the atmosphere and anticipation is the accompanying soundtrack by none other than Chris Huelsbeck of Turrican fame and others. Upon starting you're presented with the player, a winged humanoid called Dr Boss Key (DBK), who is used to navigate and select (by blasting it!) the various menus. These include a difficulty and level select, a weapons training room and also a story cinematic mode. DBK is on a mission to rid the world of some really extravagant, colourful and interesting monster types, and to help him in this endeavour, he's packing some serious firepower (think 'old painless' in each arm, times 1000)! There are 3 weapon buttons, each firing from a portal near to DBK. A super weapon, that is charged by filling a gauge with green stuff that enemies drop. A top firing one in line with DBK's small purple hitbox, a bottom firing one some way below this, and also a 3rd one that fires homing types automatically. The bottom one being some way below DBK opens up some nice options for strategy with you being able to dodge bullets, but still keep some fire on the target? And dodge you will, this being a bullet hell title! Weapons are very varied and visually and sonically appealing. Each has it's own advantages. There are various bullets, missiles, lasers, and my favourite, a cool multi laser homing lasoo, with which to dispatch the well drawn and imaginative imbeciles that threaten your existence. Not being a bullet hell officianado, i did initially find it daunting finding a way through the screenful of bullets, however after a few play throughs, the game design shows the way. There is a huge variety of creatures to vanquish in IS such as, bald headed sword types, gremlins, a massive amoured slug, a sort of monster galleon that rises up and fires all manner of salvos at you, crabby/lobster types and ghostly red shimmers, to mention but a few. Bosses include mid stage and end of level affairs, and are at least screen filling. All have multi stage attacks to maintain the player's interest, my favourite being a succession of vampiric statues! Overall I found IS to be tremendously entertaining (I still think Ikaruga is too hard for me!) and although I found one or two of the bosses to leech lives from me, repeated plays again showed that it was possible to get better. I did feel slightly pushed back by the health of the initial baldy enemies on the first level? Other small criticisms would be the secrets, as the screen is very busy I sometimes found myself zooming past the start trigger countdown without completing it, and you only get one attempt at it, i think it would be nice to go back and have another go? Sometimes i found it unclear that i was supposed to move the character to start the new level rather than pressing a button and on certain end of levels the character is hidden behind quite thick clouds, obscuring where you are? Otherwise, a superb shoot em up, with plenty of reply value 9/10 Andy Roseby
jogo exelente muito bom faltou um botão adicional para deixar a nave mais lenta para passar nas frestas de tiro ,fora isso está fazendo sucesso entre os amigos fãs do gênero parabéns aos criadores
I freaking love this game! For so many reasons! First of all OMG the weapon sets are out of this world! I never have seen something like this! They are satisfying, weird, super original and I just wanna try em all! The music is amazing too! Fighting the dragon listening to the soundtrack is recorded on my memory as an incredible moment. The sound design is also very good. I love the sound when you destroy the tree monsters! I enjoyed using the super weapon because of the sound and the satisfaction you feel. I loved the art and the dark themes too and you can tell all the love the creators put on this game and you can tell there is some deepness behind the characters and the world you are playing in, makes me want more about the universe behind the game characters! Don't expect an easy game, it's very challenging and getting the higher rankings is not a joke, wich helps for the replay value factor.
A very over the top, packed to the brim with weapons and enemies shooter. Ha a blast going for the 1cc in 'heroic' (hard) mode. Reminds me of the old school Amiga shooters, but very much brought to the modern era in terms of QoL features, small hitbox and bullet patterns. It very much encourages an aggressive play style from my experience and has some real edge of your seat moments!
A good game, I like the art direction, it makes the game feel like a nightmare/fever dream. It is a bit hard in some parts but its probably due to me only really playing touhou. I do think the hitbox should be changed or have an option to change it as its hard to see it when theres multiple enemies at once. The Ai voices are a bit offputting and at some points id rather just it be text with no audio. Overall id recommend this game for people who are big fans of shmups, and want a challenge.
🌟 Interstellar Sentinel - A Shmup That Just KEEPS Giving! 🌟 Ok, so as a mom & longtime gamer, I can say Interstellar Sentinel totally nails that classic shmup feel but adds fresh modern twists that keep me hooked!! Back in the day, little me used to spend way too many quarters on Donpachi in the arcade (seriously, one of my fave memories 💖), and this game brings back that same magic—but with SO MUCH MORE. First off, the Monster Trophy Dynamic Skill Mechanic?? Genius. The better you play, the stronger you get, which makes each run feel so rewarding. And the game loop keeps pushing you through over 57 different weapons! Like, I’ve played a LOT of shmups, but never quite like this—where the weapons keep changing and you have to adapt on the fly. It’s SUCH a cool way to keep the action fresh!! Also, can we talk about how fun the characters are?! I’m absolutely obsessed with the little cat that gives you powerups—100% my favorite. Every time I see it, I get excited bc I know something good is coming lol. And there’s Race Mode & Caravan Mode too, so there's always something new to dive into. Seriously, if you love classic arcade shmups but want something new & exciting, Interstellar Sentinel delivers. Whether I have 10 min or an hour, I always end up playing longer than I meant to. HIGHLY recommend!! 🔥🚀🎮
I can say that I had the privilege to see this game being developed and finally I got to play it, and boy... what a ride! Even though the enemies seem ruthless, filling the screen with bullets in a matter of seconds, the game is... relaxing? I dunno how to explain. But playing Interestellar Sentinel is a very relaxing experience, even if shmups are not your thing. Had a hard day at work? Well, grab some snacks, a drink, and play this game. I'm 100% positive that you will feel a lot better. I know because I did!
