Insomnia is a series of standalone psychological horror stories, each exploring the limits of human isolation, memory, and guilt.
Developed entirely by a solo creator, the series focuses on intimate, narrative-driven experiences designed to be completed in a single, haunting session.
Every chapter tells a different story.
Every story brings you closer to the truth.
And in the end, sleep may be the only escape.
2012 – Arctic Research Station "Persei".
You are Ethan Miller, a junior technician stationed at an isolated scientific base in the northern Kara Sea. The routine is strict, as always: maintenance tasks, daily reports, quiet evenings beside humming radiators. Just another standard shift.
The deeper you dig into the station’s recent past, the clearer it becomes: something went wrong long ago and there may be no way back.

Deep, Story-Driven Mystery: Uncover what lies behind the locked doors of a forgotten polar station and what price was paid in the pursuit of progress. Every discovery brings you closer to the truth lurking beneath the ice.
Atmospheric Psychological Horror: Immersive sound design, flickering lights, and hauntingly realistic visuals draw you into the cold, creeping dread of the Arctic night. The line between reality and madness blurs as the station itself seems to turn against you.
Exploration-Focused Gameplay: Navigate tangled corridors, find clues, and solve environmental puzzles in a world where your decisions matter. There are no weapons here only your wits. Every choice can shape the story and determine who makes it out alive.
Meticulous World-Building: From rusted instruments to weathered personal logs, every asset in Insomnia is crafted with attention to detail. Examine journals, notes, and relics of those who came before to piece together the station’s eerie history.
Fragmented Storytelling: The narrative unfolds organically. Every message, item, and hidden space reveals a new piece of the puzzle drawing you deeper into a mystery that you must interpret. What you see (or think you see) will test your resolve and sanity
Prepare YourselfYou are the last person who might discover what happened to Station Persei and possibly the last who can survive it. But to do so, you’ll have to face not just an unknown terror stalking the empty halls, but the depths of your own fear. Insomnia: Chapter One invites you into a tense, chilling journey through the frozen corridors of a decaying facility where the cold is not the only thing creeping in.

Blatant copy of Still Wakes the Deep with nearly identical plot and gameplay Not much original content compared to SWD.
The game starts on a regular day at a very isolated workplace with the protagonist reading a letter from his wife after he left their family for the job, considering whether he made the right choice or not.

You're then free to go around and meet the crew where you even have a conversation with one of your co-workers who is on a ladder and fixing something on the corridor ceiling. Just as you are getting comfortable with your surroundings the boss (who's a jerk) calls you to his office and gives you a task.
While doing said task everything goes south and that's when the horror starts and it lasts for 10 minutes until this game ends. By my knowledge you can't die in the game so you're just surrounded with nonexistent tension and lame jumpscares during those minutes. The developer stated that future projects will be more polished but this game alone is very underwhelming and shouldn't be the way it got published. This game is a 30 minute demo lacking uniqueness and it's sold for 5€. I refunded the game as soon as I was done and many others will do so UNLESS the dev puts genuine effort into these games, even if it takes much more to accomplish, because that is what people expect from developers and respect developers for.
Still Wakes the Deep
Dir gefällt der Film THE THING!?
Overall a nicely designed game with some hiccups here and there like a random photo I picked up looking like the most AI image I have ever seen, Coldridge having bad lip sync and no audio for final voice line, and no dialogue between Ethan and some random survivor I found in the dark during the games final moments. Game is also go from point A to B and so on the monster makes a minor appearance as well and isn't a threat at all. Insomnia: Chapter One has good graphics and design tho but it just ends as the story gets good. Personally it was ok but I would wait until the rest of the chapters come out if they ever do lol https://youtu.be/4kVmMFN-UMg
This game has retro and story feel to it, i actually like it. To think that it was made by 1 dude, its pretty crazy because some games out there made by whole teams are junk lol
For a short-story horror experience, this was pretty decent for a one-person production. You can't beat the price, that's for sure. I'm pretty forgiving for this due to the fact that it was all done by one person. Given it's inherent limitations in scope/length, which I'm alright with, I only note a couple shortcomings: 1) The voice acting was probably the weakest part of the experience. If the developer is able to get funding for more people to do the voices, I think it would be very worthwhile to update the game with them. That said, given the production limitation, I feel like the developer would have been served better by maybe having this first experience be written in such a way that there were no or minimal NPCs to converse with, simply due to the voice dialogue being the weakest part. That's just my opinion, as I feel that angle of the experience wasn't really at a good enough level yet. 2) I feel like there should have been some more assistance to the player regarding the control-room puzzle with the circuit box. I eventually got it through trial-and-error, but there should be, maybe, a nearby note that the player can read that explains exactly what needs to be done (conceptually) to get the basement power on (just getting both dial needles to "full" isn't the answer) I hold back other things I would otherwise note because of how small of a production this was. Insomnia- Part 1 is rather rough overall, but this definitely shows promise in terms of first person horror experiences. I argue in favor of getting this, if for nothing else, to support the developer to continue their work, as they do show some real promise here.
There's nothing about this game that brings me in. The characters not interesting, some of them look the same, and just when you think the game is about to get scary; it ends.
