Yep, this is too hard for me. I kind've expected as much when I saw the Souls-like tag, and looked at the fast paced combat. I think the combat is well designed, and as you play and unlock new attacks things do get a bit easier. Ultimately though I just fail to manage attacking through all of the lights and various attacks going on without completely losing my character. I'm old. It happens. But hey, if you like some hardcore hack 'n slash games that have a high degree of difficulty then this is a title for you.
《Crystal Mountain》
Died twenty times straight to an optional enemy ten seconds away from the starting point. Got a blister on my thumb that controlled the movement stick. Played through half the game before realizing there are environmental border breaks that let you go into the water areas for items. You need this game in your life 10/10
A fun little hack n slash soulslike with a neat looking artstyle! It's quite difficult at times, but it's fun, and can be beaten in a couple of hours! There are a few minor gripes I have with it, like the lack of rebindable controls, and the dash happening when you release the button rather than when you press it meant it was quite difficult for me to get the timing right a lot of the time, but overall I had fun with this game! I enjoyed mixing and matching the different modules to try to find the perfect loadout for each boss fight, and the artstyle and world of the game are great!
The art style is unique and I loved finding all the things around the map. The game has some pain points like bosses having instant kill mechanics and having way too much health, locations also look so similar you will get lost often. Overall the game has a lot of passion put into it and the low price helped alleviate my complaints.
Like a beta 0.01 of Hyper Light Drifter. Very hard and very stupid, but at least it looks good and has a couple of cool features. However, truth be told, amidst all the pain, there is fun that can be found.
Okay, first of all, I do have a lot of gripes about this game. You can't rebind keys. The game doesn't tell you anything before dropping you straight in. There's no clear direction you're supposed to take, and no clear line of progression that you're meant to follow. But most of all, there's NO map. (Although that does fit into the lore quite nicely.) Even saving isn't clear, until you die a couple of times. But despite all that, I enjoyed it. I had fun messing around with all the combinations you could make with modules, and found it more interesting than you might think exploring the map and collecting all the items. The style is so different from other games that it feels new, and unusual. I really like it. The colors are extreme, and makes the whole game feel like it's truly part of a digital universe. And I REALLY liked the music. Specifically, everything except the ominous background ambience. It does fit the mood, but isn't meant to stand out. I do have a couple of others little complaints and tips, but overall, I DO recommend this game. Maybe get it when it's on discount. And an autoclicker, oh-hohoho boy, will help a lot. I know it sounds cheap, but it will save your wrist in advance. My honest recommendation? Try the game without it first, then turn on the autoclicker when your wrist starts to hurt. Anyway, other things I noticed: despite how twisted the map is, it is actually quite small. The first boss, which is the easiest, is the only one that requires items to access. The second and third bosses have phases and moves that kill in one hit, so it feels a bit unfair. (There are ways to get around that, though.) Again, since you can't rebind keys, you will have to play with a mouse on computer, and the game demands that you click as fast as you can. It will hurt your wrist. The game autosaves whenever you obtain an item or beat a boss, and anything else doesn't really matter anyway since all normal enemies on the map will respawn when you die. There is a spawn-setting feature, but it's not really all that useful since you'll probably be done with most of the game by the time you find it. And finally, the dialogue can get a bit wonky if you collect certain items too fast, though that's mostly covered by the fact that there are like 5 characters to talk to, so you'll understand regardless. Anyways, if you do decide to play the game, have fun with it, and don't focus on the enemies too much. I think I'll write a guide. Good luck!
What a wonderful little gem! The game does not tell you much and it can be a struggle to understand what it wants from you. But the game play loop of combat, dying, exploring more of the map, unlocking new tools, then using those tools to overcome the challenges of The Crystal Mountain is very satisfying. The bright visuals and "scratchy" outlines for the effects and enemies are such a welcome change of pace compared to the more "realistic" look of bigger titles. The music and sounds invoke a mysterious atmosphere that compliments the desire to explore this strange world. There are several secrets to uncover and a compelling mystery to unravel. The game is short but well worth the cost!
