Just too buggy. The game has crashed three times already and I haven't even finished the tutorial. First time, the game told me to finish my turn while fighting a wolf. It refused to do so. Second time, the game just froze when I went to equip a weapon. Third time, the game froze, because it turns out that I didn't have a weapon equipped, when going through the gate and it wouldn't let me equip the weapon in the character screen. When I rebooted the game I managed to equip the item. Although, credit, where credit is due. The tutorial is an excellent introduction to the game and very welcome, especially given how few games have decent tutorials any more. Also, I have a 5K monitor and a RTX 3080, but the game text is tiny and doesn't change when I resize the screen. At best the text is font size 7, but for some it is more like font size 4, if I were looking to do a comparison to Word. Also, much of the text is in italics, which only makes it harder to read. There is a guide on the game's website, but it is incomplete. For example, the page on game stats finishes with the sentence: "We’ll briefly discuss some of the main stats that you need to keep an eye on in these sections". That's it. Its like the person writing it died, in some Pythonesk tragedy... Edit 1. Went through the gate and found a tiny area with a few graves and no monsters at all. WTF? Second attempt, I discovered a Kobold, but had to reboot, because not only could I not see the monster, but the game would not let me move, instead only allowing me to make melee attacks. Edit 2. So my second map only had one enemy. As did the third. What a waste. So basically, the game is creating maps with only one enemy and my job is to to and find and kill the poor bugger. Boring AF. And it turns out that you loose stamina just from moving around the map. WTF? The game actively penalises you for playing it? This just isn't fun. Edit 3: So there is a box in the settings to turn off stamina loss, while exploring. Shame it doesn't actually work. Edit 4: Final nail in the coffin. I died. Only level two. But forget restarting, because if you do, you get hit with a significant penalty. And the game is compulsory Hardcore mode. No loading past saves. Final Edit: Count me out. Until that last piece of nastiness, I was thinking of buying the game, just to support the developer, but this game is tedious, unforgiving and buggy as hell and the design choices seem geared more towards punishing the player than promoting a fun experience. The game is incredibly poorly optimised. I've got a modern rig that can play any game at 60+ FPS, but instead of flying through turns, this one takes its sweet bloody time. And at the end of each turn, there is a definite pause of about a second, during which any modern computer could have completed all of the calculations performed during the moon landing, but this game does exactly nothing. Is it mining crypto during that time? Counting sheep? Buggered if I know, but it is annoying and something that I'd expect from a game using hardware from the late 1980s, which is where the graphics for this game come from. Sadly, this game needs serious work, before it is even beginning to be ready for prime time. While I like the concept for the game and it is clearly a work of passion, I am not confident that the programmer has the skills to make this work properly. /UNINSTALLED

It is an ok game. It really shines in character development with tons of skills and abilities. It could have been an interesting CRPG instead of the simple "gate runs" concept which was much more interesting I think. It is very badly optimized to the amateurish level. At some points it becomes unplayable (for me after reaching level 20 and in the swampy isles game just stuck every second no matter the settings). All in all it has some potential but it is hard to fully recommend.
I really wanted to love this game. I am a huge fan of the old school rpg's from the 80's and this has that look. The issue I have with the game is that no matter what difficulty I set the game on, from easy to hard. and no matter what class I play, I have not been able to kill one monster. I watch the battle text and it keeps saying I have a 5% chance to hit the monster and I miss, I was fighting a troll for over and hour and did not do one bit of damage to it. I was even using hirelings and they could not hit it either.
