In the Pause between the Ringing is a rumination about completion, about territorial margins and about the haunting of bodies and memories that are translated across borders. It is an adaption of an unpublished story written by Mir Umar Hassan for the editor of the Malwa Chronicle in the July of 1958.

Another game from Studio Oleomingus, a team of two people, paying homage to an artist. This one has less walking and more reading. And once again I really like the aesthetic and when it comes to the story we have the opportunity to pick the lines during dialogue. But is it also a short experience? It is, unfortunately, with a twist that you will not know where the ending is and when you come across familiar locations and sentences you will have a strange sense of déjá vu. Highly recommended!

I'm fine with story/narrative walking simulator-type games and the trailer made me thought it would be one of those games, but in reality, while the environments shown in the trailer do appear in the game, they barely mattered and the majority of the time will be reading text or hearing a text-to-speech voice, which isn't what I expected since the trailer never showed those parts. Overall, the game (more of an art piece) and story are fine if you set your expectations, but it's hard for me to earnestly recommend it to friends.
On the edge of a new Day
A walking simulator of sorts, but this time it's all about telephones, telephones coming out of the ground, and that's not all that is amiss. You are now waiting for a phone call, a call, that everyone who has certainty on their side will do anything to stop. The Company has tried to forget, but now you are bursting to finish your business. Confused yet, don't be, but the title of this review is a clue as to how the game ends. A game that you will enjoy in perhaps 30 minutes. Between rings. Between rings you will discover a bit of your own past. A very small bit. Lovely clean and bright graphics, simple game mechanics.
In the Pause Between the Ringing is not a game. Games contain meaningful gamelike interaction and game loops, which are absent in this "art experience". Instead of being a game, In the Pause Between the Ringing is a software application that presents a poorly made art exhibition. This godawful art experience is based on a story so badly written that it was unpublishable in 1958, and remains so today. The idea is you walk around some mediocre and surreal telephone themed environments and look at stuff and get a clunky and incoherent narrative about phones crammed down your throat. What fun! We get this non-game shovelware on Steam whenever your usual Starbucks barista/McDonalds frycook art school dropout finally gets a restraining order from the local art galleries so turns to Steam Direct to try get their art published somewhere so they can finally dream of moving out of their parents basement. It's true that games can be art... art is where the pinnacles of craftsmanship and quality meet vision and narrative to create an experience far greater than the sum of the parts. This isn't a game at all, and the craftsmanship and narrative are terrible. This isn't making art better, it's just making gaming worse. For those unfamiliar with what actually makes something a game, a "game loop" describes the interaction and feedback a gamer has when playing a game. Tetris, for example, has a game loop where a random block appears, the gamer interacts with the block to position it, and then the game decides if that finishes a row or not, increases the players score if any rows were completed, then gives the gamer another block to position. Counter-Strike has a game loop where a player seeks another player, tests their skill against that player by shooting them or being shot, the computer rewards the player if they win, and then if the player survives, they repeat that loop. There's no loop here, no true interactive feedback. It simply is not a game, it cannot be "played". This has misleadingly been launched in the "Games" section of Steam instead of the "Software" section. This is a common mistake for developers who are new to Steam, or don't understand the difference between games and software which isn't a game. It seems this software published incorrectly as a game is simply lack of experience/knowledge of the correct process. Here's a link for the process to publish non-game software on Steam: Steam Developer Help With Software Publishing It's unfortunate this process was not known about/followed, resulting in a non-game "art experience" being published in the wrong place. Publishing things which aren't games on Steam in the Games section as games is misleading to gamers and somewhat harmful, because it pollutes the Steam marketplace and takes away visibility and market exposure for genuine game developers who do the right thing and make games for gamers. There are no gameplay loops in this rejected art school dropout exhibition, no "gameplay", no meaningful game like interaction. As such, this has no merit as a video game for gamers, and so I cannot recommend this non-game as a game to gamers.
An interactive short story that takes less than a half hour to complete. Not much in terms of gameplay, but an interesting experience with nice sound and visuals to match the text.
Игра без конца.
