Reviews
This was one of the first games I got to play on my souped up PC. It's wild, for being an indie dev team, this game felt very on par with a triple A title. Great graphics, really fun mechanics, an engaging story, unique enemies- and music by The Living Tombstone? Yes please!
A great game!

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 23 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 14 places towards #1, and the 2,515 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

i like it :-)
Overall, In Sound Mind is an excellent game with excellent theming that I think ascends beyond the traditional ways of telling a story about mental illness (that being bashing your head open with the most unsubtle purple prose about how much depression sucks one can conceive of). I can definitely feel the Silent Hill inspiration. And it has music by The Living Tombstone in it! I'm a sucker for collectable vinyl in games, especially ones that are so interconnected with the actual story. Plus the game is super cheap on sale. In this game, you play as Desmond Wales, a therapist, who suddenly wakes in a nightmarish dream-reality, and now you must sift through your patient's memories whilst being harassed by a mysterious figure in order to find out how to escape alive. Doing so will require of you some basic pistol and shotgun combat, as well as a great deal of puzzle solving that ranges from figuring out how to complete a sequence of actions whilst being hunted to navigating your way through a dense factory in order to collect the ingredients to pacify a (literally) flaming bull. This gameplay is pretty solid and is rarely frustrating or obtuse like so many other survival horror games, but the real meat of the game is the story. The story of this game is excellent. As I very subtly hinted at earlier in this review, I'm not a fan of the way that the overwhelming majority of games try to tackle mental illness. This comes from a person who has both OCD and depression at the time of me writing this review (not that having depression is an uncommon claim on the internet...). They tend to either be overly artsy to the point of pretension and annoying the audience (who thinks like me, anyways), or they're so blunt in their handling of the matter that it leaves no room for interpretation of introspection, and is sometimes downright insulting. But this game strikes a beautiful middle ground that manages to both be artsy and metaphorical whilst still being blunt enough to not feel like the devs are morally grandstanding about how much more empathetic they are than me. And without repeating the same platitudes of “It gets better!” and “You’ll be all right!” over and over and over and over and over again. Did I mention I can’t stand most mental illness plots (really just depression, since that’s the only mental illness that exists I guess)? The actual story and characters themselves are also pretty good. The mysterious figure is a delight to be harassed by (even if the character is a bit odd for a horror game), the patients all have diverse conditions that make sense and, while exaggerated due to plot reasons, are deeply compelling to try and help them overcome their conditions to come to a sense of peace. There's also an overarching reason for why the game is happening, avoiding the problem of so many pretentious games just "being in your head" the whole time, or just being a dream. A neat conspiracy to unravel indeed. Once more, I must insist that you consider giving this game a go if you enjoy more cerebral horror. You probably won't be quaking in your boots, and the gameplay is only above average, but the ideas this game explores will stick with you for a lot longer than it's moderate runtime. Also, the game goes super cheap during sales, so it's hardly an expense monetarily.
