To make matters worse, her partner AI called Cheep'O develops a malfunction that corrupts her linguistic programming.

This game is simply nuts (sorry, I don't know how else to put it). I wish I could write a simple "If you enjoy shmups and love --insert game title here-- then this is for you!", but I can't, as there's really nothing to compare it to. Previously, it was locked behind a pretty sizable language barrier, but that's been knocked down, as the game is fully translated (weird messages and all). Once you play you'll see why this was probably not an easy task. On your first run, you'll fumble around, get to the credits, and go "?????". In actuality, you haven't scratched the surface, trust me. There's a myriad of levels to unlock, with just as many ways to traverse them. Every minute-or-so long level has a variety of 'orders' (i.e. kill 'x' number of 'y' enemy with 'z' weapon), some of which spawn keys to unlock new levels. These levels come with new orders that spawn keys unlocking new, new levels, and so on. It keeps expanding from there. Some orders are dead simple, some not so much, and some sheer controller biters (they seem fond of asking you to perform brain surgery during an earthquake). Not to mention, while enemies start off pretty indifferent to you, they become VERY aggressive. Did I mention there's about 5,000 ways to score and your weapons level? Well, there is, and they do. Oh, and it's a twin-stick... As I said, it's a nutty game. And I haven't even talked about how it looks! Somehow a logic emerges from the chaos (the irony of asking one to carry out 'orders' within something so unabashedly disorderly is not lost on me). Or at the very least, there's a lot of fun to be had riding the chaos. Is it 'for you'? Uh... I will say you'll need an acceptance of the outer regions of what could be considered a shooter/shmup/stg/whatever. Other than that, I really couldn't say. I guess there's only one way to find out... Pro tip (because I'm a pro): Orders are listed with text on the pause screen, so you don't have to decipher the symbols. Also, when at the end of a level and faced with a fork in the path, FLY towards the path you want to take (it took me WAY too long to figure this out) Caveat: I still constantly forget which stick direction fires which special weapon. 'Illvelo Swamp: Happy Together' fixed this by adding the girl icons on the borders. I wish they would have added the girls to regular Illvelo Swamp for sake of my sanity.
Bring Radirgy 2 to Steam.-
This game is a treasure!! Finally being able to play it mouse support (d-pad+mouse in my case) is a dream come true. Go get it right now if you are into shmups or crosshair shooters and you want to experience something completely different on the genre.
Thank you for bringing this gem of a game to Steam, RS34.
keyboard and mouse completely transforms this game. being more accurate and quick with the dolls just feels so fun. if you already own the switch version, its worth double dipping just for the new controls.
the greatest
Extremely cool and unusual idea for a shmup where fullfilling per-level objectives in order to permanently gain Keys and unlock new routes is the focus, rather than a single Golden Run. Replaying over and over again to clear as much as I can is addictive, the unusual "Doll" combat is genuinely really unusual, and the game only drip-feeds you basic tutorialization so there's mystery abound. If you're into unusual shmups and completionism this is a no-brainer.
This game is the ideal mission-based home system shmup, the mission structure is genius and balancing objectives, survival and your weapons and their experience gauges is highly engaging. Routing is also somewhat interesting, although I wish more stages were useful for stage 100 clears. The balancing is kind of jank in typical milestone/rs34 fashion, but as always its nothing a little planning and skill can't get around. When you accept bullets as the failure state unlike a cave game it makes a lot more sense. I only wish that the environments were more detailed and interesting, but it seems RS34 gets better with that in games like Radirgy 2 which I hope gets ported soon, and their limited budget makes the environmental design we got amazing for the context. 100 stages is a lot to design well, and while I can't say its perfect, they did a mighty fine job.
I love it! I still don't fully understand what I'm doing.
