Ignited Steel: Mech Tactics

Overall a good and well polished game. It took a bit to get into and I almost gave up after 2 hours but I gave it one more try and am loving it now. I think part of the turning point was realizing how the heat mechanic worked so I could really use it to the full. If you don't really understand it, it can be punishing as its core to powering up your mechs but also can really cause them to be damaged. I like that there is more strategy and variation needed based on the different mission types - they do all feel different. I wish there was a bit more content and variety in the game though. That is the only negative I have. There are 4 types of missions but like I said they all feel distinct and it would be hard to add more while keeping them distinct but there are only 3 base mechs to choose from and the weapons selection isn't very large. Its good for several hours of play, still a good deal and I would definitely recommend it but it just doesn't feel like it will have longevity to it for whatever reason.

I really wish there was a thunbs up, thumbs down, and a shoulder shrug. I'd give this the latter. I'll give it the thumbs up because it was well worth the sales price, but this is a poor man's "Into the Breach". If you are looking for more like that game, then this will be a decent affordable option. But if you want to try this type of game for the first time, there are better out there. I can't quite put my finger on what this is missing but I think partly it's a bit easy ( beat the final boss on my first try less than 6 hours into playing the game). And partly... I don't know... I've unlocked a number of starting mech packs and none of them seem all that cool. You just replace the weapon real quick and they lose their flavor. There isn't enough different between your units. It's a decent game and worth the price, though. I just don't think I'll put the hundreds of hours I put into FTL and Into the Breach into this one.

Fun game. In the style of Into the Breach. Kudos to the developers. The key to success is finding the right mix of primary and support weapons (and cores) for your team. I've played twelve hours and had great fun. A light, enjoyable, fun game.

A simple rogue-like that’s similar to Into the Breach but significantly more forgiving. I think I experienced all the game had to offer in about 50 hours. Some of the achievements seem to be bugged, so don’t expect to 100% this one. It won’t blow your mind, but it’ll make a long flight pass quickly. I’d recommend picking it up on sale.

everything i ever wanted out of a simpler mech game. heat yes, dumb enemies yes, out of balance randomised missions yes, sweet upgrades and unbelievable comboes when you hit the jackpot yes. good game, backed with a sweet soundtrack.

Battles are quick, but heat and positioning nuance keep the tactics sharp and satisfying.
