I have known the dev of this game for years as he is a huge part of my twitch community.......I have seen him work on this game on and off for a couple years now. I had the honor of giving him suggestions and even playtesting a portion of the game before it was released. I finished the game last night and will now give my complete honest opinion about the game. The game itself is super fun. The mechanics of watching your stamina/mana and swapping between characters feels fun and the characters themselves feel unique. The system of your stats passively increasing as you do more things with each character is rewarding 2. The enemies in this game feel balanced for the story progression whihc feels nice. The bosses were the gem in this game for me. Figuring out the attack patterns and how/when to strike was awesome and they felt like a proper challenge but not overwhelming. The story of the game was ok but there wasn't anything that would grab me and really make me feel invested into it, but that didn't stop me from enjoying the game itself. SECRETS! They are everywhere! And it's awesome! There are so many little secrets from stuff hidden in plain sight to hidden areas. There are even reasons to backtrack to some areas to get some sweet stuff. I think I borderlined found most of the stuff and the rewards felt good and not overpowering my characters at the same time. There are special weapons for each character, but I won't spoil how to get them! Overall, the game is solid. I think it took me about 9 1/2 hours to beat the game with some backtracking and for the price point of the game I definitely got my money's worth. I will look forward to hopefully finding some people streaming this to see how well they do against the bosses compared to me XD. Dodge well! Swap Characters! Win! Lastly as my personal note to my friend/dev. I hope your many hours of labor was worth it my friend. I think you made an awesome game and I am super proud of your work and your accomplishment of releasing the game. I hope it inspires you to make some more!
I thoroughly enjoyed it once I started getting further into the game with the character play styles and the ability to play characters however you want. Switching between characters and having the freedom to play how I wanted to with combos and attacks while moving around the screen that seemed fresh and fun. With Sara you get a bunch of songs you can learn by just figuring out the inputs with different patterns to make spells that make her OP as you level her magic up. You can grind for a short time to level up spells or attacks or get items which I found myself doing and the game not feeling like a chore and before I knew it I was getting OP and learning to play pretty quickly. Before I knew it was 10 hours in on my first run trying to find all the hidden items and thinking about how fun it’s going to be refight the bosses and how I’m going to Change up my fighting style learn the boss a bit more and do it better. Take the story with a grain of salt it’s not going to be the most intriguing part when you play trust me.
This game had no business being this addicting. Started playing just to check it out and next thing I know a couple hours disappeared. Combat is fun, progression feels good, abd exploring actually feels rewarding. But honestly, the soundtrack is what really stood out to me. Th music absolutely slaps and sets the mood perfectly. Solid game, definitely recommend it.
Ignarus feels like a hidden gem made with genuine passion. The biggest strength of Ignarus is its atmosphere. Every area feels handcrafted, and the connected world design encourages exploration without becoming overwhelming. Progression mechanics also help break up the combat nicely. Not usually my type of game but it has been pretty good so far, someone cooked here and some might even say there were too many cooks in the kitchen
