The end game is very grindy, like, days and days spent just trying to get the last 5 achievements. But! It's still a very cute game and the idling aspect is interesting and increasingly customisable over time. I like all the different landscapes, the puzzles, and that you could navigate to quest solves through the menu itself, or even through the item you've just caught. I think the developer's put a lot of thought into this! I just wish there was a way to use all the "useless" money at the end to speed up completing the collection. I know we have lures! But I would happily pay like, 100,000 to guarantee a specific kind of fish, or even 1,000,000 with how much money I had just sitting around at the end. That's just me though! And I do recommend this other game otherwise, it was very cute, and I liked it a lot.
This game is really cute 10/10 (Although I first have to 100% Cornerpond XD)

Idle Waters is a pretty cool Red Panda, he fishing and doesn't afraid of anything
This is a very chill and nice game, which you can also idle in your background or play semi-actively (what I do). At least, for the final achievements, where I keep track of what fishes I catch and their rarities, The game has well implemented systems that I feel are missing in other similar games (looking at you, Cornerpond): baits for different ranks of fish, different rarities, aquariums to get certain items, a few questlines where you use said items and quite a few zones/biomes. They are very well made. If you like fishing idle games, this is a game for you. You can spend a lot of hours in it (I am still not done with all achievements) so it's a great bang for your buck game, even when not on sale.
I've been meaning to try out one of those bottom of the screen idle games that you just leave on while you go do other things (but one with more Actual Game Elements™ than Mountain when you do want to check up on it) and y'know what? - having a little pixel art panda with their wee little hat and robe go fish in little pixel art environments while I do other tasks on the computer has been a boon to my mental health. It passes the most important test by being really damn cute while it idles on my desktop and, surprisingly, contains enough actual gameplay elements like fetch quests, lures, and aquariums that you can choose to play more actively or passively depending on how you're feeling. I've been distracted by this game quite a few times. I've been invested in what the red panda is doing. You even get a cat! A cat with wings that gives you treasure and also garbage! The main knock against it is the very, very obvious point in the game where the progression goes from "finding new areas and upgrades and fish" to "just sitting there and grinding out different colors of the same fish you already caught for another 40 hours". The game does try to alleviate this with the specialized lures and charms but my enthusiasm definitely started to drop once I saw the grind that lay in front of me for the next tens of hours with Idle Waters. Which, to be fair, was kinda what I was expecting the entire game to be. Guess I can't fault the game for turning into a game where the red panda just chills and fishes for hours...
i swear that i dont have a problem with a fishing idle games..
