Not what you might expect. Maybe bullet-hell for your opponents, but if you play that way, its game over. Going in guns ablaze will trigger things that just screw you over. Holding your shots for just the right moment to pull the trigger makes this more of a sniper game than shoot-em-up which was disappointing. Other issues - Later levels are far to extreme in their design. You either have just the right build or you die. No healing between rounds is a real buzz-kill. Not enough build options. You mainly have bullet-hell or sniper. Random overpowered upgrades can rob you of a sense of satisfaction as they progress. I REALLY wanted to like this game but it just didn't come together.
very good and cool game\
Muy bueno
ICEwall is a pretty fun Space Invaders-esque roguelike, but it's also not hard to break. There are a handful of modes here. They are: 1. Draft This is generally the standout mode in this game. You get to choose between 3 upgrades in between rounds. You can also be given 4 choices if you don't get damaged during a round. There will be many occasions where you will end up with a completely broken build by the end. This is my personal favourite mode. 2. No Draft Enemies have less HP, but you get no upgrades in between rounds. This mode is pretty much just Space Invaders but with more enemy variety, more enemy formations and a limited number of levels. Overall, this is the least interesting mode. 3. Free Draft This mode lets you choose absolutely any upgrade in between rounds instead of giving you the choice of just 3 or 4. 4. Endless Draft mode but endless. After a certain number of stages, you won't be getting any more upgrades. It is possible to break this mode by getting a completely broken build that essentially makes it impossible to lose. I also encountered a bug in this mode that made it so I couldn't take damage after a certain point. I'm not sure what caused this. For the first 3 modes, you can play them on 3 different difficulties. 1. Normal This is the default difficulty. 2. Hard You will face off against more enemies than you would in normal. Their formations are also more intricate. 3. Practice You get infinite health at the cost of your score not being saved on the leaderboards. You also can't get achievements in this mode. Get this on sale.
This roguelike is fun, and I'd recommend it to someone looking for a challenge. Although it's difficult, none of my deaths so far feel unfair. Something that I'd like to see improvements in are the ships, because they aren't very different from each other. Most of them are just small stat differences.
A great game. Love its retro visual style and synth wave music - very fitting for the futuristic theme. A great range of possible upgrades and paths to take your ship, I'm looking forward to exploring more and figuring out what style suits me best. There are also a lot of interesting and unique enemies with their own unique way of adding to the bullet hell - you can tell the developer has had a lot of fun with both the upgrades and enemy designs. I still haven't manged to beat the game, but I've kept at it for nearly 3 hours - its quite fun, addictive, stressful and challenging for a rookie like myself - and I love it :)
The only positive I can find about this game is the music.
Great game, a lot of entertainment and replayability!
fun good time sponge if you like deck builders
