Man it hurts me to do this, because i followed this game for a time waiting for a discount to buy it. Well... Im not liking it. Do you know how some authors like to make edgy protagonists? this is that. The MC has a hero complex were he is all the time suffering, and all the time different from the others, and all the time he has PTSD (and I mean, all the time, to the point is almots comedy). He is also a super strong warrior, and his face is unreadeable because he is so cool, and everyone with him is an idiot except him... What can I say man, a good concept but they went to far with the drama to the point where suffering and likeness turned to comedy.
maybe i just want to be more depressed or something idek
One of the few 'absolute must-play' titles on Hosted Games. A single playthrough took me about 20 hours, so it is definitely on the longer side. The variety of choices is vast and the consequences are impeccable. For example, if you replay a scene and change just one small decision, it can lead to a completely different outcome! This is exactly what a CYOA should be. The MC deals with heavy depression and trauma, but you can see a slow healing process that will presumably carry over to the unreleased sequel. Also, the romance is a real slow burn, as it is meant to continue in the next game.
I love this! This game takes into consideration whether you are tall, short or average height, and which equipment you have in one on one combat, for one. It also does a great job at portraying how medieval forces fought, tactics and strategy-wise and what logistics were involved, including the grim cost of simply marching troops during bad weather. Also, it actually treats it as surprising to the individual people when you, be it as a woman of average height or a small guy for example, take command of a troop of people. Because you are underestimated at first glance. Which you can, btw, play into and actively use to your advantage. You are very railroaded along the plot though. Within that, you get to play around, but it is very much a story with choices, rather than an adventure you shape. Which doesn't mean you don't get to influence not only how battles go, but also maybe who sits on which throne in the end.
it takes a little bit to get to the good bits but when the story starts moving it doesn't stop. Amazing strategy especially with the army mechanics. Wonderful choices, I never really felt restrained. Story was pretty engaging i won't lie minus all the doomer stuff, I loved it.
One of my favorite CoG games in a long while. No modern politics. No forced pronouns ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. No overt political correctness or messaging. Just good, compelling storytelling. Romance options actually feel unique since each character has a gender preference. And I appreciate that the game tries to differentiate between male and female protagonists, especially given the setting (medieval, war). I actually felt like I was playing as a woman and not some genderless blob. I really enjoyed this game and hope the author continues the story with a part two.
Fantastic game. definitely less customization of your MC than most CYOA games, but the story is immensely compelling. The characters are deep, the dialogue well written, and the battle management is decent for the fact its a completely text based system. Definitely a must read.

Phenomenal game with great writing, if you love it dark and depressing. The trauma, dissociation and self harm are also very realistically depicted.
11/10 Loved it. Polecam każdemu .
