I really wanted to believe in this game. The premise alone sold me: an anti-dating sim where the goal isn't to become the harem protagonist. It sounded like a fun, refreshing twist on the visual novel genre. Unfortunately, I can't recommend it in its current state. The game has spent a very long time in development, and as of writing this review, Steam itself warns that the title has not received an update in over a year. Considering this was marketed as an episodic Early Access experience, the lack of progress and communication makes it difficult to justify the price tag. The existing content shows promise, but there simply isn't enough here for me to recommend purchasing it right now. I hesitate to use words like "scam" because I don't know what is happening behind the scenes. I sincerely hope this is a case of development struggles or mismanagement rather than anything malicious. If the developers return with meaningful updates and eventually deliver on their vision, I'll gladly revisit this review and change my recommendation. Until then, unless there has been a significant update around the time you're reading this review, I'd suggest saving your money and waiting to see whether the project moves forward.
Since Steam won’t let me get my money back, the least I can do is leave a review. I honestly don’t understand why they let such unfinished games hit the market. Paying full price for an otome game with no complete routes, zero transparency, and no updates on when the content will be released feels like outright deception to me. When you’re making a game for yourself, I get that you’d want to go at your own pace without pressure, but since people have paid for this, the very least you can do is meet basic standards of timeliness—or at least show some courtesy.
Very little content, updates not releasing as planned.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS GAME. It is unfinished and as far as I know, it will remain unfinished because the creator cannot be asked to update this game and makes up excuses why they can't update. It's not worth the money and I think you should spend it wisely.
I was really excited about this game and willing to support it since the day I've heard about it. It's rare to see a game that adds fun and unique elements to a genre! The issue comes from the lack of content in the current release in addition to the overall lack of communication on the games production. I understand that development is hard and needs time, however at the very moment this should've been released as a free demo that replaces the previous one and not 15$. I would like to add that this game was already funded by a Kickstarter where the payment should've already covered most of the development. If a paid release was planned either way I feel like the dev should've waited until there was much more content instead of the two episodes we currently have, ESPECIALLY considering how short they are. It strongly upsets me since I have had high faith in this game. I cannot in good faith recommend purchasing this game at this stage especially since the length of the current episodes was not clearly stated on the games page, and they're both around 10 - 30 minutes long each, depending on how fast you can read.
While it's good quality there's nothing here. Prolog and what seems like one chapter split in two. There's no sign of it being worked on I've played free games with more content.
as of this time I cannot recommend this game in good conscience. there is maybe at most an hour of content and very little news from the devs. I bought this around release when they promised an update within a month. then they delayed it another month and went radio silent for 8 months with their most recent update boiling down to "we're still working on it, trust us". don't waste your money at this point. wait for the full release (if that ever happens)
It's cute but like, you'll be lucky to get an hour out of it at this point. Would've been more satisfied if this was just a demo I played and not a paid experience.
IJWTBS is a game I really, really want to see happen. I plan to update my review in the future, but for the time being I need to warn people that it's stuck in development hell and has been for over a year. It's important that you know exactly what you are getting yourself into if you still choose to invest in its potential. The current prologue is incredibly well-done, and showcases just what this can become. However, it also sets an extremely high standard to follow, and so far we're going on a year and a half without any content updates whatsoever. So gather your patience, bide your time and hope for the best.
