First off its a cool concept, however, there's too much going on. It is very confusing with vague/loose instructions. I didn't even make it through the first "mission" :(

[h1]Introduction[/h1] [b]Hypnospace Outlaw[/b] is a point and click adventure like no other. In it you explore a simulated version of the Internet in the 90s in the alternative reality. [h1]Pros & Cons[/h1] [b]Pros:[/b] + Sophisticated world that is fun to explore + Touching personal stories + Lots of secrets [b]Cons:[/b] - Not always clear what to do - Might feel tedious at times [h1]Story[/h1] As said before the game takes place in an alternative version of the 90s. But instead of the Internet people in this reality have something called [b]Hypnospace[/b], which they use by putting on some sci-fi headset prior to sleeping. You take on a role of a moderator, who’s job is to preserve that order, which means reporting harassment, copyright infringement and so on. While surfing the web in search of violations, you’ll learn a lot about its’ inhabitants, their daily lives and interactions with each other. I like how the game doesn’t try to put everything in your face, there’s a lot of subtlety and details that are easy to miss on the first look but once you notice, you feel super smart. There’s also a kind of overarching plot to the game, which I’d say isn’t as interesting, although it takes an interesting turn near the end. [h1]Gameplay[/h1] It’s one of those games that are hard to categorize into a specific genre. It tries its best to simulate an old operating system with its own applications and even games. There are system settings, that allow you to change the look and feel of the OS. As you progress you can unlock more customization and unique features. The main game happens in the browser, which allows you to scroll and click through the personal web pages of the characters. There are also a search feature and bookmarking system which help you navigate through the game and solve its puzzles. It manages to evoke a sense of nostalgia even though I haven’t been on the internet in the 90s. Only problems I have with the gameplay is that some pages take a while to load, so it feels tedious at times. Especially that one time in the game when your goal isn’t very clear, so you just randomly click through pages you’ve already seen with hope of finding something new. [h1]Graphics & Audio[/h1] It looks and feels just like you’d imagine from the store page. The graphics are very nostalgic and most of the websites you visit in the game, have their own soundtrack. You can also download different songs and make your own playlist. [h1]Performance[/h1] Specs: AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Laptop GPU 8GB, 32GB RAM. The game runs at 60 FPS without any problems. [h1]Conclusion[/h1] [b]Hypnospace Outlaw[/b] is a unique experience that I would recommend to those who like detective games and are fine with reading a little bit more than in a usual video game.

An amazing achievement, lost hours and hours just browsing this charming facsimile of a late 90s internet. So well thought out. So many rabbit holes to get lost in. You'll discover: what it is to be a true CoolPunk, the legend of Chowder Man, read fake music and videogame reviews for fake bands and games, learn some classic pizza jokes from ThatBrassyKid and his beef with Zane; all with a gigantic grin on your face.

One of the best written games I've ever played, and something that could ONLY be done as a game. I almost teared up at the end. Puzzles can be very tricky, but the story is worth it for that.
