First of all: I was provided with a key for the game, but it was not a sponsored stream or a paid placement. Together with three friends we went on a discovery tour today - and as expected it was quite chaotic :D I've followed the development of the game a bit over the last few years and I'm very happy with the result. We played online today, but I think it's even more entertaining as a couch co-op. The mix of individual tasks and collaborative actions makes the game varied and really fun. Lots of material for bickering and goofing off. The game also includes a lot of little details that round out the overall experience really well too (little animations, names, and so on). I'm looking forward to playing it again with friends. I think those who love games like Overcooked will also have great fun with this game!
Very fun game, a harder version of the old game "Lovers in a dangerous space time" with a more "rogue lite" feel. Fun to play with 3 more friends ! Hope the dev team will make more contents in the future, but there is yet hours of game to play !
Had lots of fun! Can't wait for more! I have only one request. Please give mouse as an option for point to navigation.
我们需要中文!!!!!! we need Chinese!!!!!
just a short and brief overwiew. i played a bit with a friend and we had a great time! total recomendation. buy buy buy =)
I am always looking for some fun co-op games I could play with my friends to have some funny hours together. So, I had the game on my wishlist for some time now and played the demo with some friends before where we had a really good time. When the game was released I also tried it alone and was surprised how good it was actually playable alone and how much fun it made. I was worried that I cannot manage steering the ship and shooting enemies at the same time, but that worked out really nice. Like, I got the auto turret at the beginning and could also shoot with my manual turret while flying :) I had to sweat a bit on the boss fights tho ;) Looking forward to spend some more time with my friends in space and see what else is coming .. and what ships we could get!
Hyperspaced is a cooperative action roguelike developed by Rarebyte and published by Headup, available on Steam. The game combines arcade-style space combat with frantic ship management, creating a chaotic multiplayer experience where players must operate and maintain a single spaceship while navigating dangerous sectors of space. Rather than focusing solely on piloting or shooting, the game emphasizes teamwork and multitasking, forcing players to juggle navigation, combat, repairs, and survival simultaneously as they travel through unstable regions of the galaxy. The premise centers around a cosmic disaster that has thrown the universe into turmoil. Critical stabilizing devices known as “Great Plugs” have been stolen, causing the fabric of reality to unravel and forcing space routes into unstable hyperspace corridors. As members of an improvised rescue crew, players are tasked with retrieving these devices and restoring balance before entire sectors collapse. The story itself takes a lighthearted tone, serving primarily as a framework for the gameplay rather than a deeply narrative-driven experience. However, the quirky sci-fi setting and humorous dialogue help give the adventure personality as players travel between bizarre space regions filled with strange enemies and unexpected hazards. Gameplay revolves around controlling a single spaceship from the inside while simultaneously defending it from external threats. Players move around the interior of the ship in a top-down perspective, interacting with different stations and modules that control various functions. One crew member may take the pilot’s seat to steer the vessel through asteroid fields and enemy formations, while another manages the weapons systems to fend off attackers. Meanwhile, other players scramble across the ship repairing damaged systems, extinguishing fires, cleaning up hazardous leaks, and maintaining critical equipment. Because all these tasks occur in real time during combat, the experience quickly becomes a frantic race against escalating chaos. The cooperative design is the central pillar of the game. Up to four players can join together, either locally or online, and effective communication becomes essential for survival. Enemy attacks frequently damage ship systems, forcing players to divide responsibilities quickly. When fires break out, hull breaches occur, or weapons malfunction during intense battles, crews must prioritize which problems to solve first. The result is a dynamic gameplay loop where coordination matters far more than individual skill. Moments of disaster often turn into hilarious scenarios as players rush across the ship trying to keep everything operational while explosions erupt around them. Every mission takes place in procedurally generated sectors, ensuring that no two runs unfold exactly the same way. The layout of space routes, enemy encounters, environmental hazards, and rewards changes with each attempt. This roguelike structure encourages players to adapt their strategies and experiment with different ship builds. Some runs might focus on aggressive combat using heavy weapons, while others emphasize defensive modules that increase survivability. Because the galaxy constantly changes, players must remain flexible and make the most of the resources they discover during each journey. Ship customization and progression add additional depth to the gameplay. Throughout a run, players collect scrap materials and technology modules that can be installed within the ship. These modules influence how the vessel performs in combat, providing new weapons, stronger shields, automated systems, or support abilities that help the crew survive longer. Players can also unlock additional ships with different layouts and capabilities. Some vessels offer more space for upgrades but require larger crews to manage them effectively, while smaller ships sacrifice capacity for agility and speed. The visual presentation reflects the game’s energetic and chaotic nature. The art style features bright colors, exaggerated animations, and cartoon-like characters that give the game a playful tone despite the constant danger. Inside the ship, flashing warning lights, spreading fires, and sparking machinery create a sense of urgency as players rush between systems. Outside the vessel, space battles are filled with colorful explosions and swarms of enemy ships, reinforcing the arcade-inspired action. The user interface is designed to remain readable even during hectic moments, ensuring that players can quickly identify damaged systems or incoming threats. While the game can technically be played alone, its design clearly favors cooperative play. Managing every ship function simultaneously as a solo player can be extremely demanding, since the player must constantly move between stations while responding to emergencies. In contrast, playing with friends allows the workload to be shared and creates memorable moments of teamwork and chaos. Because of this, the experience feels most enjoyable when players embrace the collaborative aspect and coordinate their roles effectively. Replayability is one of Hyperspaced’s strongest qualities. The combination of procedurally generated maps, unlockable ships, varied module combinations, and escalating difficulty levels ensures that each run offers something new. Players can experiment with different strategies, chase higher difficulty runs, and unlock additional upgrades over time. Even after many sessions, the unpredictable nature of the galaxy keeps the gameplay fresh and challenging. Overall, Hyperspaced delivers a fast-paced cooperative experience that blends roguelike progression with chaotic teamwork. Its emphasis on multitasking and communication creates a uniquely entertaining gameplay loop where small mistakes can quickly spiral into hilarious disasters. Although the game is less enjoyable when played alone, it shines as a multiplayer experience where coordination and quick thinking become the key to survival. For players who enjoy cooperative chaos and arcade-style space adventures, Hyperspaced offers a lively and highly replayable journey across a collapsing universe. Rating: 8/10
