A bit of a priest simulator
The Flayed Man is a short point-and-click game in which you play as a flayed man who ends up in a house with a confessional, while a demon waits for him in the garden next door. It's hard to say much more about the plot without spoilers. I can only mention that there are basically two endings. Focusing on the audiovisual aspect, I think it's generally okay. The game is rendered in pixel art, but it all looks really good and atmospheric. There's nothing to complain about in terms of sound either. I have no objections to the dialogues either, they are quite interesting, especially those in the confessional. The puzzles are also quite intuitive, and there's no need to think long and hard about what to combine or what to use, although there are elements in the game such as a fireplace, which is there, but it's not clear what it's for.
Summary
Other than that, the game is just average, nothing to write about, but it's not that expensive either. It takes an average of 30 minutes to complete, plus the time spent on getting all the achievements. I certainly don't consider the time spent on this game to be wasted, but I probably won't return to it. ✔️Low price ✔️Interesting horror atmosphere ✔️Audiovisual setting ✔️❌Quite short ❌Useless elements, e.g., a fireplace that has no function in the game ❌Unable to exit to the Menu once the game has started or a save has been loaded Time of completion: 30 - 60 minutes Rating: 5/10 ●▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ஜ۩۞۩ஜ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬●
Follow my curator for more reviews
●▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ஜ۩۞۩ஜ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬● ATTENTION! Edgar... You sick bastard!
Quite impactful and surprisingly replayable. I couldn't stop until I'd tried everything and found all achievements. But most importantly, this game is MEMORABLE, and well worth the price. (If you don't like disturbing games, this isn't for you, but that should be pretty obvious from the title and screen shots.) Great art that looked even better with a CRT filter. Would gladly play more by this developer.
A short and thought provoking game
Short, but fun. The dialogue is very evocative and the art is excellent. I'm glad I stumbled across this one.
The story is mysterious yet very impactful. I love the art direction, although the animations and the pixel art (aside from the cutscenes, those are amazing!) could use some improvement. There are inconsistencies with stroke width and the protagonist kind of merges with the garden as both use the same colors.
I very much enjoyed my time with this even if it was super short, excited to see what the devs do next!
I really enjoyed this one! Grotesque and nasty beautiful pixel art. I love when a simple point and click adventure leads to contemplation and self analysis. Moral of the story : "Forgiveness is a mirror - you cannot receive what you refuse to reflect."
unfortunately this game is very short but really cool! love the character designs and art style!! also rip pluto :C
